What´s the International Appalachian Trail (IAT)?

.- The IAT will follow the appalachian geology all around the world..- Richar Anderson, in 1991 had the idea of this new project. .-The IAT was presented in the Earth Day of 1994 (April 22nd)

What´s the International Appalachian Trail (IAT)?

Earth Day – April 22, 1994

“Today I propose a project that would connect the mountains, people and cultures of Maine with its Canadian neighbors. I propose a trail to be one of the truly outstanding hiking trails on the continent… a symbol of our continuing commitment to work as neighbors, to sustain and enjoy our common environment, and to celebrate the grandeur of the landscape that ties us together.”Governor Joseph E. BrennanPortland, Maine

What´s the International Appalachian Trail (IAT)?

Three major goals of the project:

1.- Connect the highest peaks of Maine, New Brunswick & Quebec by Earth Day, 22 April 2000

2.- Extend the trail to the ancient Appalachian terrain of Atlantic Canada

3.- Extend the trail to the ancient Appalachian terrane of Greenland, Europe & North Africa
