Carrick on Suir, Town
The town lies on both
banks of the river Suir in
the south east corner
county Tipperary. The
earliest records of a
settlement date from
1247.
Ormond Castle Ormond
Castle is on the outskirts
of Carrick on Suir. The
Elizabethan manor house
is well preserved, it was
built in 1565 by Tom
Butler the 10th Earl of
Ormond, and he was a
cousin of Queen Elizabeth
the first.
