So much has been lavished, praised and gushed about the essence of Cape Town that we could hardly add to the monumental cannon of tributes, metaphors and eulogies. Instead, here are the top 3 attractions that we feel must be experienced in any visit to the Mother City:

There are few experiences more thrilling than being whisked directly up the intricate rock-face via the state-of-the-art Table Mountain Cableway. It’s a 5 minute ride that you won’t want to end, as the rotating cars present 360 degree panoramic views of the increasingly distant city.

Down below, framed by the Atlantic Ocean and Table Mountain, lies the ancient V&A Waterfront. Here, entertainment venues, shopping arcades and gourmet cafes seamlessly merge with fresh sea breeze to create a milieu of cosmopolitan activity.

At a short distance from this frenzy, sits the historic lighthouse of Cape Point, perched precariously above the Atlantic Ocean, with awe inspiring vistas from the southernmost tip of Africa.

Mossel Bay is a harbour town of about 60,000 people on the Southern Cape (or the Garden Route) of South Africa. It is an important tourism and farming region of the Western Cape Province.

Mossel Bay is situated exactly half way between Cape Town - the provincial capital of the Western Cape Province – and Port Elizabeth (both 400 km away), so it’s your ideal holiday destination, and the logical place to stop and relax on any local itinerary.

The older parts of the town occupy the north-facing side of the Cape St Blaize Peninsula, whilst the newer suburbs straddle the Peninsula and have spread eastwards along the sandy shore of the Bay.

More than 60 kilometres of beaches - and warm, beach-going weather throughout the year (with at least 300 days of sunshine in every 365!); The riches of the Indian Ocean, the Cape fynbos, and the Outeniqua Mountains; Culture that stretches back over 164,000 years; 21st century infrastructure; and accommodation for every budget.

POHO - CAVE 13B

Hermanus is known as the whale capital of South Africa.

Ride a boat into the ocean for a close and personal encounter with the Southern Right Whales. Between June and December these gentle giants of the ocean come to breed, nurse and raise their calves in the warm Cape waters over a three year reproductive cycle. Watching the playful antics of the whales just meters from your boat is a life changing experience that will be etched in your memory for life.

Champagne air, Fynbos covered mountains, sparkling sea vistas, a rich marine life and the best land based whale watching in the world, make Hermanus one of the most magnificent and desirable eco-destinations in the country.

Quaint boutiques, art galleries, open-air cafes, restaurants and craft markets provide a creative, cosmopolitan and hospitable framework to complement the natural attractions.
