• Traveling is an important part of discovering the world around you and opening your mind to various cultural practices.

• But, as we’ve all probably experienced, there are some things we wished we knew before taking off.

• So, here is a list of important travel tips that I’ve gained from past experience and hope you can share with somebody you know who has a yearn for discovery and adventure…

• Whether you’ve traveled nationally to a different state or halfway around the world, you don’t want to shorten your days when your time is limited.

• Even if you know you’ll be abroad for a year, it’ll go by faster than you think - and you don’t want to think back and wish you hadn’t slept as much.

• Plus, if you’re up early enough in a touristy place, chances are you will avoid heavy crowds.

• And make sure to bring your camera, because there is no better lighting for pictures than in the morning

• Although growing up you were probably told to stay away from strangers, you’ve most likely matured a lot since then, and it’s time to broaden your horizons when it comes to meeting people.

• Make it a point to interact with locals, especially if you’re traveling internationally.

• Locals will introduce you to things in their country that you may never have known otherwise.

• Remember, people make traveling more authentic than just snapping photos of famous sites.

• So stop being shy, and talk with locals - you may even get to practice speaking in a different language.

• Ask for recommendations of what great restaurants are in the place you’re visiting.

• Looking up this information online is sometimes useful, but it’s better if you ask somebody native to where you’re staying.

• Whether it’s an interaction with a hotel lobbyist, or a shopkeeper, locals will know the most authentic places to grab a bite.

• Especially if you’ve never been experimental with different foods, step out of your comfort zone when you travel and try something new and native to the land.

• If you find yourself ordering cheeseburgers everywhere you go, something isn’t right.

• Lastly, don’t be afraid to say yes. When you travel, you’ll be exposed to opportunities that you may not feel comfortable pursuing, but do it anyway.

• Unless it puts your safety at risk, you’ll probably learn a lot about yourself and the place you’re exploring if you say yes to unexpected situations.

• Plus, these thinks make for great stories to tell down the road.

• Speaking of - don’t forget to bring a journal!
