Meet your guide atthe hotel in the afternoon. We have timeto become more familiar with the city and itssights such as the renovated, activemonasteries (Sri Saket, Haw Pha Kaew) and,most importantly, the national monument "PraThrat Luang" with its famed golden paint. Inthe small monasteries of the city, well meetthe young monks in their saffron robes, whogladly show us their homes and describe theirlives of devotion. You overnight in hotel inVientiane.Day 3: From Vientiane to Vang Vieng (B)After breakfast, we drive north to the small city of Vang Vieng (approx. 160 km), whichis tucked in among rocky cliffs and a small river and has retained its unique charm. In theafternoon, we explore a nearby cave and subsequently enjoy the sunset. Here we stay in asmall guest house near the river. You overnight in hotel in Vang Vieng.Day 4: Hiking - Caving - Kayaking (B, L)This adventurous day trip brings us to hidden caves and the surrounding villages. Webecome part of this unbelievable landscape of rock, jungle and rivers. In the afternoon,we paddle by kayak back to Vang Vieng. The area offers other options as well, such asextensive hikes, further cave exploration and enjoyment of the expansive landscape. Youovernight in hotel in Vang Vieng.Day 5: Vang Vieng Cave (B, L)We now travel deeper into the mountains and the back country. Slowly the road windsalong the slopes, over mountain passes and through small villages. In the afternoon, wereach a recently discovered cave. With adventurous spirit and our equipment, we rise intothe dark and cool to investigate the wealth of this hidden place. You spend the night in avery basic guest house (it can be very cold at night time).* Possible to visit the cave only in the dry season.Day 6: Kayaking on the Nam Ming River (B, L, D)After breakfast, we head out by mini-van for our river adventure (approx. 1.5 hrs). Withour rafts or kayaks, we embark into the Nam Ming and paddle by the tides of the riverthrough the wildly enchanting landscape. Equipped with sturdy rafts, life jackets, helmetsand our guides, we head into a genuine adventure among rivers, forests, mountain rangesand villages. So please bring with youonly the necessary for 3 days and clothes, which dry fast.Day 7: Highlands of Laos - Local People - Jungle & mountains (B, L, D)We continue on foot, and our challenging multi-day trek takes us through the backcountry of Laos, which is difficult to reach. Our guides lead us from village to village,and we have an opportunity to observe the true, original life of the local people. We willhave home-stays with the villagers and beds with mosquito nets.Day 8: Highlands of Laos - Local Peoples - Jungle (B, L, D)We migrate further into the remote and sparsely populated areas of the back country.Wilderness and agriculture co-mingle in this ancient homeland of the mountain people.Here, we meet the Hmong and the Khmu, who make their living by crop rotation andraising small farm animals. Over wildly overgrown mountains, we make our way towardsthe Nam Khan, which we will soon travel. You overnight in home stay in the village.Day 9: Short trekking - Highlands of Laos - Jungle Resort - Elephant Camp (B, L,D)Our last trekking day brings us down into the neighboring plains. At midday, we arrive ata beautiful resort. Here we rediscover all the amenities of civilization along a lovely river.The first thing you may wish to do is to take a shower and relax! Enjoy lunch and diner atthe restaurant. Go by boat to Tad Sae Waterfall (dry from February to July). We spendthe night here in this beautifully landscaped oasis. You stay overnight in Lodge or Resort.Day 10: Elephant Tour - Kayak - Cultural Capital Luang Prabang (B, L, D)On the last day of our intensive adventure, we share an unforgettable experience. Takethe time to observe the elephants bathing in the river in the morning. Take 1 hourelephant riding, then start you kayak trip on the Nam Khan (25 km) to reach the culturalcapital of Luang Prabang. In the evening, time remains for exploring this stunning andidyllic city. Spend the night in a nice guest house.Day 11: Luang Prabang City tour by bike - Temples - Monasteries (B)There is much to see in todays itinerary, and we will accomplish as much as we can. Ourfocus is the history and beauty of the city. The old partially renovated colonial buildingsand nearly 30 monasteries in the city are alone worth a whole day. In addition, themonastery mountain Phou Si, with its grand view of the city, offers another high point offull discoveries and experiences. With our private carswe head out for a relaxing day out at the cascades of the Kuang Si waterfalls. Hang out,enjoy the splashing waters and natural pools.Day 13: Mekong River and Pak Ou Cave (B, L)Today, you wrap up this shorter version of our trip, but there is still time for a bit moreadventure. You journey by boat upriver to the holy Pak Ou Cave, also called the Cave ofthe Thousand Buddhas, since here innumerable Buddha statues overlooking the Mekongfrom within the cave. In the afternoon, you head back to Luang Prabang for some freetime.Day 14: Departure from Laos (B)After breakfast, you can be brought out to the airport to catch your flight or bus foronward travel. Please arrange your travels before going on tour!
