La provincia de Málaga, a lo largo de cuyo litoral se extiende la Costa del Sol, es desde hace ya muchos años un destino turístico de primer orden conocido en todo el mundo. A la cabeza de esta provincia privilegiada por la naturaleza está la capital, Málaga, la ciudad donde nació y vivió los primeros años de su infancia el pintor Pablo Ruíz Picasso. Ha sido definida por el poeta Vicente Aleixandre, Premio Nobel de Literatura, como <<La Ciudad del Paraíso>>. Se puede visitar la ciudad iniciando el recorrido desde la Alcazaba. A pocos metros de ésta puede visitarse el Teatro Romano y la Plaza de la Merced, lugar éste donde se encuentre la casa natal de Picasso y donde transcurrieron sus primeros juegos. Más arriba de la Alcazaba, coronando el monte, está el Castillo de Gibralfaro, vieja fortaleza árabe que ofrece desde su atalaya una maravillosa vista sobre la ciudad. Mención especial merece la Catedral, una de las grandes muestras de templos renacentistas de España, una de cuyas dos torres no se llegó a terminar. A la derecha del conjunto monumental se encuentra el Sagrario, con una soberbia portada gótica-isabelina. Junto a la Catedral, en el antiguo Palacio Episcopal, está el Museo de Arte Sacro. El Museo de Bellas Artes y el proyecto de creación de un Museo Picasso, que albergará en primer lugar la colección de Christine Picasso, nuera del pintor, completará la oferta cultural de la capital. Una vista a Málaga obliga a rendir homenaje a su valioso patrimonio botánico, cuyos principales exponentes son el Parque, con especies únicas en Europa, el Jardín Botánico de la Concepción y Los Montes de Málaga. Cualquier época del año es buena para realizar una visita dada la bondad del clima, pero hay dos momentos que tienen especial relevancia para los malagueños: la Semana Santa, vivida y sentida con especial intensidad, y la Feria de Agosto. Al este de la capital se extiende una comarca singular, montañosa y accidentada, que en cortas distancias nos lleva desde alturas de 2.000 metros, en la arriscada sierra de la Almijara, hasta las orillas del Mediterráneo, donde abundan los cultivos de productos subtropicales, como aguacates o chirimoyas, y la caña de azúcar. Esta es la comarca de la Axarquía, la tierra de la pasa y el vino dulce, y la tierra en donde el arte y la historia han dejado una huella imborrable. Rincón de la Victoria, a tan sólo 11 kilómetros de la capital , se convierte en el núcleo turístico más importante de la comarca, junto con Nerja y Torre del Mar. Toda la ciudad de Velez Málaga, capital de la comarca, está declarada monumento nacional, y recorriendo palacios como el de los marqueses de Beniel, conventos como los de San Francisco, Las Claras o Las Carmelitas o contemplando sus fuentes, el viajero comprobará el porqué de esta denominación. Internándose por las carreteras de la comarca llegamos a pueblos tan impresionantes por su belleza como Cómpeta, Archez y Salares, pueblos blancos y alegres, muy cuidados, donde dejaron su huella árabes o mudéjares; pueblos como Frigiliana, de pasado morisco, mirando al mar. Son inolvidables fiestas como la de la noche del vino en Cómpeta o la representación de la Semana Santa en Riogordo.

Las playas del litoral este, con su vegetación subtropical, se ofrecen tranquilas y serenas desde Rincón de la Victoria hasta Nerja y Maro, ya en la linde con Granada. La Cueva de Nerja, junto a este municipio, merece una vista para poder admirar este monumento de la naturaleza. En la parte occidental de la provincia, la Serranía de Ronda es otro enclave privilegiado. Ronda, la capital, es una ciudad romántica en la que el viajero puede sentir que entra en la Andalucía profunda. La ciudad se encuentra a sólo 45 kilómetros de la Costa del Sol. Hay que adentrarse en los parajes espectaculares de la Serranía, donde toreros y bandoleros, leyenda y realidad, han aportado la imagen de la comarca y su capital. Ronda alberga uno de los conjuntos monumentales más completos de Andalucía. La ciudad que cautivó al poeta Rilke es, además, una ciudad de perspectivas y miradores, asomada a su impresionante Tajo, al fondo del cual serpentea el río Guadalevín. La ciudad no puede eclipsar, no obstante, la belleza de su entorno, de los pueblos blanquísimos que han conservado la traza árabe, entre bosques de alcornoques, pinos y una reliquia botánica: el pinsapo. En esta Serranía, pueden encontrarse cuevas de todo tipo, algunas con relevantes pinturas rupestres, como la de la Pileta, en Benaoján. Son también de interés la del Gato, en Montejaque, la del Hundidero y la del Organo, en Gaucín, así llamada por el sonido que se produce al golpear suavemente las estalactitas. Ruinas romanas como las de Acinipo, a nueve kilómetros de Ronda, recuerdan el intenso poblamiento desde tiempos remotos. En el litoral de poniente, Torremolinos es la localidad más próxima a la capital. En los restaurantes de la Carihuela se degusta el famoso pescado frito junto a sus playas de arena fina. Por el Bajondillo, por San Miguel, se ofrece un turismo juvenil y abigarrado, mientras que el Palacio de Congresos se abre a un turismo muy distinto. Parque acuático, de atracciones, puerto deportivo o el Museo de Arte Precolombino, son parte de la oferta que reúnen entre Torremolinos y Benalmádena, mientras que a muy poca distancia, Fuengirola ofrece un Paseo Marítimo de siete kilómetros con estupendos jardines junto al mar. Siguiendo hacia occidente, Marbella encierra hermosos contrastes. El casco urbano recuerda al de otros tantos pueblos andaluces con sus calles estrechas, palacios y plazas recoletas. Hay otra Marbella bien distinta, de urbanizaciones silenciosas que aprovechan el microclima excepcional de la zona, y otra Marbella sofisticada de arquitecturas audaces. Ofrece kilómetros de playas cuajadas de hoteles de lujo, centros comerciales con tiendas de moda, discotecas, puertos deportivos, campos de golf, casino y algunos de los mejores restaurantes de España. Cerca, Estepona, con un moderno puerto deportivo, tiene calas tranquilas con urbanizaciones bien insertadas en el paisaje.

Otro atractivo de la provincia lo constituye el Torcal, en las proximidades de Antequera. Es una maravilla de la naturaleza, declarada Parque Natural, impresionante por sus formaciones geológicas, un macizo kárstico en le que el viento ha cincelado llamativas formas. A pocos kilómetros también podemos localizar la Laguna de Fuente Piedra, pequeña, pero la más frecuentada de toda España por los flamencos rosa.

Cañizares ha pensado en un campo apto para todo tipo de jugadores. Sus calles y greenes son amplios y el agua constituye una de sus principales características, ya que forma parte de 11 de sus 18 hoyos y rodea el green por tres lados en el hoyo 17. El club se inauguró en 1990 con tan sólo 9 hoyos, pero en la actualidad tiene 18. Los hoyos más difíciles y espectaculares son el 3, un par 5 y 528 metros, que tiene estupendas vistas al mar, y el 8, un par 4 con dog-leg a la derecha, que presenta importantes dificultades. Destaca, asimismo, el hoyo 17, un par 3 que atraviesa un lago. Es un campo con pares largos que requieren fuerza, precisión y paciencia. La distancia total es de 5.976 metros desde los tees de profesionales, y de 5.673 desde los que amateurs. El campo está situado en un enclave privilegiado entre el mar y la montaña, en donde arranca la hermosa comarca de la Axarquía malagueña. En sí mismo, posee una gran belleza tanto por la vegetación como por las grandes superficies de agua de que dispone. El club ofrece a los golfistas y visitantes toda clase de servicios y comodidades.

Designed by Jose Maria Cañizares, one of the heroes of the Ryder Cup, Añoreta is to twelve kilometres of cardinal Malaga, east direction. Cañizares thought about a suitable field for all kinds of players. Its streets and greenes are wide and the water constitutes one of its principal characteristics, since it forms a part of 11 of the 18 holes and the green surrounds for three sides in the hole 17. The club was inaugurated in 1990 with only 9 holes, but at present it has 18. The most difficult and spectacular holes are 3, one couple 5 and 528 meters, which it has 4 marvellous view to the sea, and 8, one couple with dog-leg to the right, which presents important difficulties. The hole emphasizes, likewise, 17, a couple 3 that it crosses a lake. It is a field with long couples that need force, precision and patience. The total distance is of 5.976 meters from professionals' tees, and of 5.673 from which amateurs. The field is placed in an enclave favoured between the sea and the mountain, in where it starts the beautiful region of the of Malaga Axarquía. Also, it has a great beauty both for the vegetation and for the big surfaces of water. The club offers to the golfers and visitors all kinds of services and comforts.

El Real Club de Campo fue diseñado por el famoso arquitecto escocés Tom Simpsom, que también trabajó en los campos de Turnberry y Muirfield. Celebra desde hace más de 50 años la Copa Iberia, la competición por equipos más antigua de España, pues su origen se remonta a 1945. Está situado en un bello paraje natural entre Málaga y Torremolinos. Una parte del campo se extiende junto al mar, mientras que la otra discurre entre hileras de árboles. Tiene lagunas naturales formadas por el agua del mar.

The Real Club of Campo was designed by the famous Scotch architect Tom Simpsom, who also was employed at Turnberry and Muirfield's fields. It celebrates the Iberia Cup for more than 50 years, the competition for teams more ancient of Spain, since its origin goes back 1945. It is placed in a beautiful natural place between Malaga and Torremolinos. A part of the field spreads close to the sea, whereas other one passes between rows of trees. It has natural lagoons formed by the water of the sea.

Este campo de 9 hoyos se extiende sobre un valle situado en la zona este de la capital malagueña. Fue diseñado por Carlos Fernández Calella en la década de los sesenta. Es uno de los pioneros en la Costa del Sol en la formación de grandes jugadores. Es un campo muy corto, de 2.338 metros, y su recorrido es difícil, ya que presenta muchos desniveles. Las mayores dificultades se encuentran en sus pequeños y ondulados greenes. Es también un campo estrecho que crea dificultad a los jugadores de handicap alto.

This field of 9 holes spreads on a valley placed in the zone of the Malaga capital. It was designed by Carlos Fernandez Calella in the decade of the sixties. It is one of the pioneers in the Costa del Sol in the formation of big players. It is a very short field, of 2.338 meters, and its tour is difficult, since presents many differences. El Club de Golf Guadalhorce ofrece en su calendario más de 60 competiciones al año, destacando el Gran Premio Vega del Guadalhorce. Posee una impresionante casa solariega del siglo XVIII construida por el arquitecto Gómez Temboury. Cuenta con el privilegio de que su Alteza Real D. Juan de Borbón y Battemberg, Conde de Barcelona, aceptara la Presidencia de Honor del club en Abril de 1991. Muy cerca se encuentra el Parque Tecnológico de Andalucía, el aeropuerto internacional Pablo Ruiz Picasso y la Universidad de Málaga. El Guadalhorce es un campo de golf de 18 hoyos, cuyo diseño se debe al arquitecto Kosti Kuronen. Los primeros nueve hoyos se extienden sobre suaves lomas con arboleda propia de campo de secano. La parte final de recorrido, con vegetación más tropical, recuerda a los campos californianos. Cabe destacar la extensión de los greenes, en los que el estado de la hierba es excelente. Es un campo ideal para celebrar cualquier tipo de campeonato. Guadalhorce Club de Golf dispone también de otro campo de 9 hoyos para entrenamiento, compuesto por greenes pequeños y estrechos idóneos para el recorrido de niños y aficionados que comienzan a iniciarse en este deporte. El club se fundó en 1988.

Folco Nardi es el diseñador de este campo que, al igual que otros de la geografía andaluza, ofrece al golfista la posibilidad de disfrutar del paisaje andaluz. Para ello, el diseñador ha respetado la vegetación autóctona. Es un campo muy suave con 9 lagos y abundancia de árboles frutales. La casa club es un cortijo con más de 200 años de antigüedad que dispone, no obstante, de todas las comodidades y servicios. El campo, con 18 hoyos, está situado en un precioso paraje de Alhaurín de la Torre, a 300 metros sobre el nivel del mar, sobre una finca de un millón de metros cuadrados. Lauro Golf dispone de pozos propios, que dan agua abundante y de calidad. Es un campo lleno de dificultades. Muchos de sus hoyos están situados entre hileras de olivos, especie predominante en la finca, y hay obstáculos de agua inteligentemente dispuestos. El hoyo 4, un par 3, es inusual, ya que la perspectiva desde el tee hace que parezca más alejado de lo que realmente está por efecto de los desniveles existentes. Los golpes de salida son casi todos complicados, los greenes, magníficos y bien protegidos. Los hoyos 9 y 18 son difíciles y precisan de una gran concentración para evitar las trampas de agua que defienden los greenes.

Folco Nardi is the designer of this field that, as others of the Andalusian geography, offers to the golfer the possibility of enjoying the Andalusian landscape. For it, the designer has respected the autochthonous vegetation. It is a very soft field with 9 lakes and abundance of fruit-bearing trees. The house club is a farmhouse with more than 200 years of antiquity that has, nevertheless, all the comforts and services. The field, with 18 holes, is placed in an Alhaurín de la Torre beautiful place, at 300 meters on the level of the sea, on an estate of a million square meters. Lauro Golf has own wells, which give abundant and quality water. It is a field full of difficulties. Many of its holes are placed among rows of olive trees, predominant species in the region, and there are intelligently ready obstacles of water. The hole 4, a couple 3, is unusual, since the perspective from the tee does that it seems to be more removed from what really is for effect of the existing differences. The blows of exit are almost all complicated, the greenes, magnificent and protected well. The holes 9 and 18 are difficult and is necessary a great concentration to avoid the water traps that defend the greenes.

Torrequebrada es un campo tortuoso con numerosos árboles y arbustos y con seis de sus 18 hoyos afectados por lagos y bunkers. Debe su diseño a José Gancedo, que proyectó un campo para poner a prueba la pericia del jugador en cada uno de sus hoyos. Está situado en un punto estratégico de la Costa del Sol, entre Torremolinos y Fuengirola, a tan sólo 18 kilómetros del aeropuerto Pablo Ruiz Picasso de Málaga. El campo tiene unas magníficas vistas sobre el mar. A sus numerosas dificultades hay que añadir el fuerte viento reinante en la zona. Es un campo complicado para el jugador medio. Los lagos y bunkers se combinan con las cien variedades de árboles y plantas del recorrido. El gran tamaño de los greenes, unido a su movilidad, los hace muy singulares. Entre los hoyos destacan el 10 y 16, ambos par 4.

Torrequebrada is a tortuous field with numerous trees and shrubs and with six of its 18 holes affected by lakes and most reactionary sectors. Designed by Jose Gancedo, who projected a field to put difficulties to the know-how player in each holes. Paul Ruiz Picasso, Malaga airport is placed in a strategic point of the Costa del Sol, between Torremolinos and Fuengirola, at 18 kilometres distance. The field has some magnificent views on the sea. At its numerous difficulties it is necessary to add the strong reigning wind in the zone. It is a field complicated for the average player. The lakes and most reactionary sectors are combined with all hundred varieties of trees and plants of the tour. The great size of the greenes, joined its mobility, makes them very singular. Between the holes 10 and 16 stand out, both couple(par) 4.

Mijas Golf International cuenta con dos difíciles campos de 18 hoyos cada uno: Los Lagos y Los Olivos. Ambos han sido diseñados por el afamado arquitecto Robert Trent Jones. Los Lagos tiene calles espaciosas, pero con trampas de agua y arena. La mayoría de los greenes están elevados y bien guardados por bunkers. Es un campo ideal para el jugador amateur, ya que no presenta grandes desniveles. Los Olivos es un campo más reducido. Los greenes son igualmente más pequeños y presentan también más altibajos. El hoyo más espectacular es el 14, un par 3 que ofrece una magnífica vista panorámica desde su elevado tee de salida. El paraje en el que está enclavado permite disfrutar de un paisaje realmente espectacular. En el diseño, Ballesteros ha respetado escrupulosamente la naturaleza. Su situación, configuración, orientación y clima le proporcionan al complejo unas condiciones inmejorables para la práctica de este deporte. Es un campo ideal tanto para los profesionales como para los aficionados. Cuando se conocen y se recorren sus calles varias veces es divertido y entretenido. El hoyo que reviste mayor dificultad es le 9, un par 4, cuya calle tiene dos bunkers a la derecha y tres árboles en el centro. Hay importantes complicaciones en el hoyo 10, un par 4, en el que el tee se encuentra en un plano superior al de la calle y tiene un recorrido con agua lateral y un bunker a la izquierda. El green está protegido por dos bunkers a la izquierda del mismo. Alhaurín Golf tiene una superficie de 1.150.000 metros cuadrados y está en el término municipal de Alhaurín el Grande.

La Cala Golf es un complejo que cuenta con dos campos -campo norte y campo sur- de 18 hoyos cada uno, más otro campo de 6, par 3. Su diseñador fue Cabell B. Robinson, que dibujó un proyecto en perfecta armonía con el bello enclave natural donde se ubica. Ambos campos se caracterizan por sus calles y salidas y en ambos casos se recomienda más precisión que potencia fuera de los tees. Alcanzar los greenes altos requiere un buen golpe. El campo sur ocupa un espectacular terreno ondulado. El agua está presente en tres de sus hoyos, especialmente en el 12. El campo norte está más alto. El hoyo 15 tiene una vista impresionante sobre la bella localidad de Mijas. El campo de seis hoyos lo convierte en sede ideal para una escuela de golf.

El campo, diseñado por Folco Nardi, fue abierto al público por primera vez en 1990. Situado en una zona residencial entre Mijas y Marbella, goza de un entorno privilegiado, con un paisaje espectacular con vistas tanto al mar como a la montaña. El terreno de juego está lleno de interesantes retos para jugadores de cualquier nivel, que han de estar atentos a los obstáculos de agua para no perder la bola. De los 18 hoyos, cabe destacar el 12, un par 5 de 570 metros. La dificultad surge al segundo golpe debido al lago que hay situado en medio de la calle. Los hoyos 6, un par 5 con 570 metros, y el 14, un par 5 con 480 metros, ponen también a prueba la pericia del jugador. Como atractivo más de este lugar de ocio y encuentro, está la contemplación alrededor de los lagos de las numerosas especies de aves que pueblan el entorno.

El hoyo 5, un par 5, es el más complicado del campo y uno de los más largos. Su tee está incrustado entre el río y el lago y exige un primer golpe muy preciso para poder situar la bola en la calle.

Se encuentra situado en el término de Benahavís, en la carretera que une San Pedro de Alcántara con Ronda. Los Arqueros es un campo apto para todo tipo de jugadores. Entre los hoyos, destaca por su longitud y dificultad el 18. Los tees están situados en la parte baja de la calle y tiene un dog-leg a la derecha. El golpe de salida hay que apoyarlo sobre el lado izquierdo de la calle, pero cuidando los bunkers que hay situados a ese lado.

La Quinta ha sido escenario del Open Larios 1992, en el que participaron jugadores como Severiano Ballesteros y José María Olazabal. El recorrido consta de 27 hoyos y dispone también de tres putting green y campo de prácticas.

El complejo Guadalmina Golf Club dispone de dos campos de 18 hoyos cada uno, y un tercero de 9 hoyos. El campo norte debe su diseño a Falco Nardi; el del campo sur es de Javier Arana. Los campos se han construido respetando la originaria exhuberancia del parque natural. Están situados en el extenso complejo residencial de Guadalmina, con una línea de costa de tres kilómetros. El campo sur tiene un esplendoroso green, el del hoyo 10, que está situado sobre la misma playa. El campo norte sigue en su recorrido el trazado serpenteante del Arroyo de los Chopos, desde el pantano de las Medranas al mar.

Atalaya Golf fue diseñado por Herr Von Limburguer e inaugurado en 1966. La oferta golfística del complejo incluye dos campos de 28 hoyos: Atalaya y Atalaya Rosner. El primero es relativamente fácil e ideal para jugadores poco expertos, sin que esto suponga un menoscabo en su calidad. Las calles son amplias y con escasos desniveles. Los greenes son rápidos y en su mayor parte están situados en terrenos más elevados que las calles. El segundo campo, el Atalaya Rosner, fue inaugurado en 1993. Se adapta perfectamente a las aptitudes de cualquier jugador de nivel medio. En general los greenes son amplios y los golpes de salida suelen entrañar alguna dificultad.

Atalaya Golf was designed by Herr Von Limburguer and inaugurated in 1966. The golf offer of the complex includes two fields of 28 holes: Atalaya and Atalaya Rosner. Monte Mayor destaca por la espectacularidad del paisaje en el que se sitúa, en el término municipal de Benahavis. Fue diseñado por el malagueño José Gancedo sobre una superficie muy accidentada. El campo presenta numerosos desniveles debido a la abrupta orografía del terreno sobre el que se extiende, que es escrupulosamente respetada por su diseñador. En su recorrido se encuentran en total seis puentes que unen tees y calles y éstas con los greenes. Es un campo idóneo para jugadores arriesgados, ya que sus singulares características le convierten en un reto a superar de gran atractivo para el golfista. El hoyo número 17 se encuentra en una plataforma elevada desde la cual el golpe tiene que aterrizar sobre un islote, al igual que el segundo impacto. El green está situado junto a un lago con una pequeña cascada.

El campo de la Zagaleta está situado en la carretera que une San Pedro de Alcántara con Ronda. Goza por ello de un entorno privilegiado con una vegetación espesa y poblada con abundantes especies animales. La Zagaleta es un campo de carácter exclusivamente privado, que se asienta sobre lo que anteriormente fue una finca propiedad del magnate Adnan Kashogui, cuya residencia fue convertida posteriormente en casa-club.

Coto de la Serena es un campo de 9 hoyos diseñados por Pedro Morán Montero, enclavado entre las localidades de San Pedro de Alcántara y Estepona, en una zona residencial a la que sirve de jardín. A su oferta deportiva añade una tranquila atmósfera debida a sus jardines de tipo japonés. Coto de la Serena es un campo corto y su recorrido está entreverado por varios arroyos. Demanda precisión en los tees para llegar con buen pie a las calles.

Coto de la Serena is a field of 9 holes designed by Pedro Morán Montero, nailed among San Pedro's localities of Alcántara and Estepona, in a residential zone to which it uses as garden. El Paraiso fue diseñado por kirby y Gary Player y promovido originariamente por la colonia belga en la Costa del Sol proveniente de Zaire. El trazado del campo se adapta al terreno de la colina sobre la que se extiende, que presenta una pendiente hacia el mar. En este campo destacan los obstáculos de agua, ya que los roughs ocultan arroyos y los lagos van salpicando el recorrido. Ello obliga a estar bien atento, aunque la amplitud de sus calles haga pensar en un recorrido con menos dificultades.

El Paraiso was designed by kirby and Gary Player and promoted originally by the Belgian colony in the Costa del Sol originally from Zaire. Estepona Golf, con 18 hoyos, fue diseñado por José Luis López Martinez e inaugurado en 1991. Está situado a tan sólo dos kilómetros de la localidad de Estepona. Las características del terreno en el que se asienta y lo accidentado de la orografía que el diseñador quiso respetar, hacen duro su recorrido para jugadores poco andariegos. Los altibajos de la superficie obligaron a configurar calles cortas y estrechas. La vegetación, junto con los obstáculos de agua y los roughs existentes ponen en dificultades a los golfistas, especialmente los roughs, que son de gran peligro.

Estepona Golf, with 18 holes, was designed by Jose Luis Lopez Martinez and inaugurated in 1991. It is placed to only two kilometres of Estepona's locality. Desde su situación, en los días despejados se puede divisar la Costa de Africa y el Peñón de Gibraltar. En este campo hay que tener siempre en cuenta el viento de poniente. Requiere una gran concentración y golpes rectos. Los nueve primeros hoyos son de estilo inglés, con greenes elevados y calles estrechas, mientras que los últimos presentan menos dificultades por la anchura de las calles. Es un campo con muchos desniveles.

La Duquesa Golf is another work of the famous Robert Trent Jones, who as different so many people of the Costa del Sol takes its press. De aquí se llega a la Bahía de Cádiz, donde se encuentran poblaciones tan importantes y singulares como El Puerto de Santa María, San Fernando, Puerto Real y Chiclana, y ya en la desembocadura del Guadalquivir, Rota y Chipiona. La zona más occidental del litoral gaditano nos lleva hasta Sanlucar de Barrameda, frente al Parque Nacional de Doñana, ciudad con un espléndido patrimonio monumental, que se suma a las excelencias de su vino de manzanilla y su gastronomía. Ciudad de extensas playas, hay que destacar sus famosas carreras de caballos durante el verano. Cádiz alterna la belleza de su litoral con una maravillosa naturaleza en el interior de la provincia, en las vecindades de la malagueña Serranía de Ronda, con la que comparte muchas de sus características. La Ruta de los Pueblos Blancos es un recorrido inolvidable y sorprendente, en le que la naturaleza regala al visitante un espectacular paisaje. La blancura, en una Andalucía donde nunca falta la cal, es la nota dominante en estos pueblos serranos, antaño aislados y hoy muy acogedores. Aquí los vestigios árabes se alternan y unen a los templos y palacios cristianos, sobre todo la iglesia de Santa María de la Coronada, desde cuya alta torre se divisan las dehesa. Son estas dehesas, donde se cría el toro de lidia, una nota característica de esta tierra. También Alcalá de los Gazules merece una visita. Cerca del mar, Vejer de la Frontera impresiona por la originalidad de su urbanismo. La huella árabe es especialmente nítida sin que falten lienzos de murallas, plazas con palmeras y azulejos y hermosos templos para redondear sus atractivos.

El Club de Golf Sotogrande debe su diseño a Robert Trent Jones. Con más de 30 años de historia -fue inaugurado en 1964-, es hoy en día uno de los mejores campos de Europa. El campo, de 18 hoyos, tiene una hermosa y arraigada vegetación entre la que hay que destacar la antigüedad de los alcornoques, palmeras y pinos. La espesa y hermosa arboleda es un obstáculo que el jugador deberá tener en cuenta en su recorrido pues son parte importante de las dificultades que tendrán que sortear. El otro problema de importancia lo constituye el agua, que juega en Sotogrande un destacado papel y le hace parecer más largo de lo que realmente es. Es un campo de largo recorrido y el agua afecta a los hoyos 12, 13, 14, 16, 17 y 18. En el hoyo 17 encontramos un lago a la derecha que hace de este dog-leg uno de los más difíciles. En la segunda vuelta, los lagos aumentan de tamaño. El club dispone también de un campo de nueve hoyos, par 3, para aquellos que no deseen realizar el recorrido completo de los 18 hoyos.

Está considerado como uno de los mejores campos del circuito internacional de golf. Designado como sede del campeonato de la Ryder Cup 1997, ha albergado además importantes competiciones del Volvo Master. Valderrama de la impresión a simple vista de ser un campo tranquilo y agradable, pero la realidad es que es complicado y duro. Las calles están trazadas con precisión y en ellas se halla casi un centenar de bunkers y greenes elevados. Su difícil recorrido destroza los nervios de los jugadores más templados. El hoyo 4, con sus 489 metros, en un par 5 de una belleza espectacular. Concluye en un elevado green, junto al que hay una cascada de agua. Es uno de los rincones más bellos y populares de Valderrama. Sólo los grandes jugadores como Sevariano Ballesteros, José María Olazábal o Woosnam son capaces de conseguirlo en dos. El hoyo 17, con la reforma de Ballesteros ha endurecido aún más el campo. El campeón español ha diseñado un hoyo para que el drive pueda volar unos doscientos metros sobre la calle. Un lago precede al green y un área de semirough se encuentra a unos ciento treinta metros del lago. De cara al campeonato mundial, se han resembrado los antegreenes con Rye sobre Bent. Este nuevo césped crece de una forma vertical y no semi-anárquica, como ocurría antes. La hierba facilita los golpes de aproximación.

Campano tiene sólo nueve hoyos, distribuidos entre pinos y olivos centenarios. Destaca el hoyo número 2, un par 5, que atraviesa un arroyo y requiere más precisión que fuerza. Las dificultades del esmerado diseño del campo y los obstáculos con que cuenta constituyen un reto para jugadores de cualquier nivel. Otro aliciente es la buena climatología de la localidad gaditana de Chiclana, que hace posible que se pueda jugar en este campo en cualquier época del año. En sus proximidades, Cádiz y las poblaciones enclavadas en la bahía gaditana ofrecen otras posibilidades de ocio, con rutas culturales de singular interés, especialmente la capital, la antigua <<Gades>>, una hermosa ciudad que cuenta con más de tres mil años de historia.

El Club de Golf La Cañada, con 9 hoyos, se encuentra en el pueblo de Guadiaro, muy cerca de Sotogrande. También ha sido diseñado por Robert Trent Jones. Fue fundado en 1982 por un grupo de aficionados que trabajaban como caddys en los campos vecinos de Sotogrande y Valderrama. Es el producto de la perseverancia y la determinación de la población de este municipio gaditano, que siente una gran pasión por el golf y que ha sido vivero de grandes profesionales. El campo de La Cañada se encuentra casi permanentemente azotado por el caprichoso viento del Estrecho. Pero lo primero que llama la atención es el buen estado de las instalaciones. Tiene una vegetación de olivos y acebuches y sus calles son estrechas y lisas. Los greenes son muy amplios para compensar la posibilidad de que su ondulaciones y su velocidad devuelvan la bola hacia la calle. En La Cañada no hay roughs, con el fin de que las calles sean más anchas y permitan un ligero margen de error. El Club de Golf La Cañada posee una escuela municipal de golf.

También es uno de los más bellos y apasionantes campos de golf de la provincia de Cádiz. Sus 6.440 metros y su par 72 proporcionan al jugador estímulo y aliciente constante. El recorrido discurre entre una densa arboleda con alcornocales centenarios, arroyos y cascadas y con dos circuitos entrelazados que realzan la belleza del paisaje. Es, sin duda, uno de los campos más apasionantes del circuito europeo. La calidad del terreno de juego de San Roque se debe en gran medida a la personalidad de Dave Thomas, autor también del campo The Belfry, sede en varias ocasiones de la Ryder Cup. Thomas diseñó en San Roque un campo largo con calles anchas. La primera parte presenta características de <<Woodland>> y la segunda está condicionada por los obstáculos de agua. Tiene laderas en alto que bordean varios hoyos. Destacan por su dificultad el hoyo 8, un par 4, y el 18, también par 4, que suponen un gran reto para los jugadores de cualquier nivel. Hay que estar muy atento para evitar el agua. Los aficionados al golf podrán disfrutar también de la equitación y la caza, dos deportes que se pueden practicar en la zona.

Ha sido diseñado por Antonio García Garrido sobre un terreno suavemente ondulado, jalonado de olivo y naranjales. Fue inaugurado en 1994. El campo ofrece un recorrido que, siendo asequible para los jugadores de cualquier nivel, pondrá a prueba la precisión de los más audaces. Tiene largos y difíciles pares 5, greenes amplios y ondulados con moderno diseño y cuatro lagos, estratégicamente situados, que dan belleza al campo y cumplen su cometido sirviendo de obstáculos que el golfista tendrá que sortear. Los tees, con largas plataformas, hacen posible variar la dificultad del trazado, adecuándolo tanto al jugador principiante como al más diestro profesional. La casa-club es una hermosa hacienda típica del Aljarafe, ofreciendo las más modernas comodidades al tiempo que conserva los elementos tradicionales que le confieren estilo y belleza. Perfectamente integrado en el Preparque del entrono de Doñana, se pueden observar diversos animales en su hábitat. El Real Club Pineda fue fundado en 939. Es, por tanto, el más antiguo de Andalucía. Está situado a tan sólo 3 kilómetros de Sevilla, al lado del río Guadiana. inicialmente contaba con 9 hoyos, cuyo diseño se debe a Rodrigo y Felipe Medina Benjumea. Hasta 1992, año de la Exposición Universal de Sevilla, no se inauguró el nuevo recorrido, de 18 hoyos. Desde el año 1965 es la sede de la Copa Giralda de Golf, que fue patrocinada por Su Alteza Real el Conde de Barcelona. Pineda es club privado al que sólo pueden acceder los socios y otras personas que vayan acompañadas de un socio. Es un campo bastante liso. Sus calles son amplias y en ellas abunda la vegetación, compuesta fundamentalmente por palmeras y pinos, que separan unas calles de otras. Los greenes son pequeños y el acceso a los mismos presenta dificultad. Hasta hace pocos años ha sido la única oferta golfística de la provincia, que desde 1991 se ha incrementado con otros tres campos más: La Rocina, El Zaudín y el Real Club de Golf de Sevilla.

El club, situado en las proximidades de la capital sevillana, ofrece, además de la posibilidad de practicar el golf en un campo diseñado por un jugador de lujo, una amplia oferta deportiva y de ocio, que incluye la equitación. La nueva casa club, con unas estupendas instalaciones, convierte el club en uno de los mejores de España.

Por la vieja Judería puede admirarse la que fuera sinagoga, y no muy lejos, la Puerta de Almodóvar y el Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, donde pueden contemplarse también baños califales y bóvedas ojivales, pero también mosaicos que nos recuerdan la importancia de la ciudad bajo la dominación de Roma, como también la recuerdan los restos de un templo romano junto al Ayuntamiento. Con la conquista del siglo XIII, Córdoba comienza a llenarse de iglesias que marcan por lo general la transición del románico al gótico y algunas de las cuales conservan restos de las primitivas edificaciones árabes. No faltan los detalles barrocos, como el soberbio Palacio de la Merced, sede hoy de la Diputación Provincial. El Guadalquivir baña la ciudad, dejando en una margen la mayor parte del casco urbano, y en la otra el Campo de la Verdad y monumentos como la Torre de la Calahorra. A su paso por la provincia de Córdoba, el Guadalquivir la divide en dos partes bien definidas: al norte, Sierra Morena; al sur, la campiña. En su serpenteante recorrido, el río va atravesando pueblos que en muchas ocasiones están a caballo entre la sierra y la campiña. Montoro es un ejemplo de éstos, donde el río pasa bajo un puente renacentista. Casi en los límites de la provincia de Sevilla, el curso del río nos lleva a Palma del Río, con un amplio recinto amurallado, iglesias con esbeltas torres, como la Asunción, o deliciosos recintos como el Convento de San Francisco.

Junto a Palma del Río se unen el Guadalquivir y el Genil, el otro gran río de Andalucía. El paisaje de la Campiña es el que mejor define a la provincia de Córdoba. En esta campiña -tierras de labor pobladas de olivares, viñedos y pequeñas huertas-, se encuentran muchas ciudades hermosas, como Baena, con un importante conjunto monumental del que sobresale la Iglesia de Santa María la Mayor, de estilo gótico, o Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, que aúna un artesonado mudéjar con un espléndido retablo barroco. En Montemayor podemos admirar el Castillo del Duque de Frías, de curiosa traza mudéjar, y en la capital de la comarca, Montilla -capital también del vino-, hay buenas, parroquias que ofrecen excelentes pinturas, como la de Santa Clara, con cuadros de Alonso Cano, además de una estupenda portada del último estilo gótico. Aguilar, otra hermosa ciudad de la campiña, tiene una plaza octogonal, la Plaza de San José, armónica y alegre, de estilo neoclásico, y no faltan en la ciudad delicadas joyas barrocas, como las Carmelitas Descalzas. El amplio norte de la provincia de Córdoba es la Sierra Morena, con comarcas muy caracterizadas, como la de los Pedroches. Hinojosa del Duque, uno de los hermosos pueblos de esta comarca, tiene una iglesia de dimensiones catedralicias, la de San Juan Bautista, ejemplo gótico-renacentista, con artesonado mudéjar y retablos barrocos. El la misma comarca, Belalcazar sorprende por su castillo medieval, mientras que en Torrecampo admiramos el Casino, que fuera Casa de la Inquisición y Posada del Moro. Es un edificio con excelentes colecciones pictóricas. La capital de la comarca es Pozoblanco ciudad agrícola y ganadera con paisajes que aúnan la dehesa con el olivar, e incluso el viñedo. En esta comarca hay pueblos míticos, como Fuente Obejuna, Belmez, y Peñarroya.

El Club de Campo de Córdoba fue creado en 1976 por la empresa Progolf, que realizó también su diseño. Esta situado a tan sólo nueve kilómetros de la capital, junto a la antigua carretera de Córdoba a Obejo, enclavado ya en plena sierra, lo que incide notablemente en su abrupta orografía. El campo, de 18 hoyos, es un campo muy duro perfectamente adaptado a la configuración del terreno sobre el que se extiende. Rebosa dificultad, ya que a los obstáculos naturales del terreno se suma la densa arboleda. Las calles son sinuosas, formando dog-legs que impiden alcanzar los greenes con facilidad. Hay como mínimo once dog-legs- Los hoyos de mayor atractivo son el 4, 6, 11 y 16, con sus greenes bordeados por el lago. El campo ofrece al jugador un reto permanente y un espectacular paisaje del que disfrutar, al tiempo que se respira el aire puro de la Sierra Morena. El entorno es de una gran riqueza faunística, propia de esta hermosa sierra. La casa club ofrece una gran variedad de servicios de la mejor calidad. El club es un reducto natural propicio para olvidar el ajetreo cotidiano de la ciudad, a la vez que se disfruta de una estupenda jornada de golf.

Abajo, la ciudad renacentista y barroca, en la que no faltan tampoco recuerdos árabes. La gran Catedral del Renacimiento, obra de Diego Siloé, rematada por Alonso Cano, tiene a su lado la deliciosa Capilla Real, del último gótico, sepulcro de los Reyes Católicos, con una excelente pinacoteca, y el Sagrario. En las inmediaciones se conservan múltiples vestigios del largo pasado árabe, desde la Madraza -la vieja universidad árabe-, a la Alcaicería -el estrecho mercado-, pasando por el Corral del Carbón- la vieja alhóndiga. Hay que visitar igualmente el Monasterio de San Jerónimo, otro gran complejo fundamentalmente renacentista, y saliendo al paso las iglesias barrocas de San Juan de Dios, San Justo y Pastor, además de numerosos palacios y la Cartuja, cerca de uno de los campus universitarios. Apoteosis barroca es el Hospital Real, hoy sede del Rectorado de la Universidad de Granada. El visitante no puede eludir subir al Albaicín, entre viejos alminares como el de San José. fragmentos de muralla y los bien cuidados <<cármenes>>, y debe, tras asomarse al Sacromonte y los jardines de la Casa del Chápiz, bajar hacia una de las calles más hermosas de Andalucía; la Carrera del Darro, con el río a un lado, entre palacios como el que alberga el Museo Antropológico, la Casa del Castril, los Baños Árabes e iglesias como la de San Pedro, con la bella Alhambra y su bosque a un lado, y el blanco y moruno Albaicín al otro. Desde aquí se desemboca en la Plaza Nueva, con la Chancillería a un lado y la airosa torre mudéjar de Santa Ana en el otro.

No puede olvidarse tampoco pasear por la calle Elvira hasta la puerta del mismo nombre, donde se ubican las tiendas de anticuarios; comprar flores en los quioscos de la plaza de Bib-Rambla o artesanía en la cuesta de Gomeres y aledaños. En todo recorrido salen al paso monasterios, conventos, torres, huellas de la densa historia de la ciudad que pervive en todos los rincones. La provincia de Granada es tierra de sorprendentes contrastes. El litoral granadino -Costa Tropical- son alrededor de 100 kilómetros de playa y acantilados que ofrecen lugares de gran belleza, La vecindad de la montaña hace siempre esta orilla estrecha y sinuosa, pero al mismo tiempo protegida de fríos, intensamente soleada. Las tres ciudades -Motril, Almuñécar y Salobreña- ofrecen puertos y lugares especialmente idóneos para los deportes náuticos. Un cercano campo de golf, el de Los Moriscos, ofrece también la oportunidad de practicar este deporte. El litoral de la zona alpujarreña es accidentado y auténtico, con calas solitarias, impresionantes acantilados, tierra y aguas especialmente propicias para practicar el submarinismo o la vela, pero también el ala delta o el parapente. Tierra de contrastes sorprendentes, que se notan cuando se sube desde el cálido litoral de la Costa Tropical a las Alpujarras y la Sierra Nevada. Es un trayecto insólito en Europa, que puede realizarse hoy en hora y media en cómodas carreteras.

Ocupa una suave loma de la vega granadina. La presencia del agua es importante, ya que el campo cuenta con tres lagos que realzan aún más la bellaza del paisaje y se mezclan con la vegetación autóctona. En la zona pueden contemplarse diferentes especies animales que pueblan este hábitat. Los hoyos más difíciles son el 3 y el 15, ambos un par 5. Los lagos ocasionan dificultades en los hoyos 16 y 17. El primero es un par 3 y el segundo un par 4. El Club de Golf Granada es un club de socios, pero abierto a los visitantes en cualquier época del año. Ofrece toda clase de comodidades y servicios.

Diseñado por el campeón español Manuel Piñero y fundado en 1973, el Club de Golf Los Moriscos está situado en un lugar privilegiado, en plena Costa Tropical de Granada. Se beneficia por ellos de una climatología envidiable y de un paisaje singular, que hacia el interior nunca pierde de vista los picos de Sierra Nevada. Extendido sobre la costa misma, el mar pone el contrapunto, en un contraste de paisajes propio de esta provincia privilegiada que es Granada. Los Moriscos es un campo tipo links. Dista sólo unos pocos kilómetros de Motril y constituye la única oferta golfística de esta parte de la costa andaluza. El campo tiene sólo nueve hoyos y presenta una superficie plana en la que la vegetación está fundamentalmente compuesta por palmeras y caña de azúcar, esta última cultivo típico de esta parte del litoral granadino. Desde casi todos los greenes se puede contemplar la parte alta de Sierra Nevada. El hoyo más difícil es el 6, un par 4, con un green que tiene una gran caída y está defendido por bunkers.

Los barrios almerienses son muy heterogéneos. El barrio de La Chanca, arriscado en torno a la Alcazaba, es popular y colorista, con fachadas de distintos colores que lo diferencian de tantos barrios típicos del resto de Andalucía. El Zapillo es marinero y señorial a un tiempo, pasando por los barrios comerciales del centro y el Paseo, eje de la vida loca.¡l. Cerca de la capital está el Parque Natural de Cabo de Gata. es este un lugar paradisíaco, milagrosamente mantenido al margen de las prisas, que impresiona por su placidez. Aguas limpias que invitan al submarinismo, playas desiertas, parajes volcánicos, lentiscos, acebuches, palmitos, dunas móviles y especies, como el azufaifo, endémicas del lugar y de la cercana África. Se han censado hasta 169 especies de aves en este parque y registrado en algunos años concentraciones de hasta 2.4000 flamencos. El parque incluye distintas áreas. Desde San Miguel, típica aldea de pescadores, se puede uno dirigir al observatorio de aves de Las Salinas y al Faro de Cabo de Gata, rodeado de acantilados y un mar intensamente azul que se adentra en las calas. San José es también otro punto de referencia, junto a las playas de Monsul y los Genoveses, de donde partieran las naves españolas para la batalla de Lepanto. En la parte oriental, Rodalquilar es hoy un poblado minero abandonado, pero donde hasta hace pocas décadas se extrajeron minerales preciosos. Al Norte, es obligada la visita a Nijar, con una hermosa parroquia mudéjar y, sobre todo, un amplio caserío de profunda raigambre moruna. Es una localidad de rica artesanía, con la variada alfarería y tejidos tan peculiares como las <<jarapas>>.

Desde los límites de Cabo de Gata hasta la frontera con la provincia de Murcia, se abre otra porción de litoral de incuestionable hermosura. Es una zona manos concurrida que el litoral de poniente, con pueblos tan peculiares y bien conservados como Mojacar, donde no faltan lugres solitarios y encantadores, paradisíacos, ni faltan los pueblos que como Carboneras o Vera -esta última con una conocida playa naturista-, muestran un creciente auge bien justificado por la limpieza de sus aguas, la calidad de sus arenas y la belleza de sus paisajes sorprendentes. Pueblos marineros, como Garrucha, bien merecen también una visita y poder degustar la delicia del pescado en sus múltiples restaurantes. Muy cerca, hacia el interior, está el yacimiento arqueológico de El Argar, en el término de Antas, o ciudades de hermosas disposición, como Sorbas. El resto del litoral almeriense es igualmente sorprendente. La parte sur e una abigarrada mezcla de agricultura intensiva y un turismo placentero. Localidades como El Ejido se han creado en pocos años, al pairo del gran despegue económico que ha supuesto el desarrollo agrícola. Cerca de allí está Adra, con un importante puerto pesquero. De Aguadulce a Adra se suceden los núcleos turísticos, muchos de ellos con tan justificada fama como Roquetas de Mar, muy apreciada por el turismo centro europeo. Detrás del litoral sur está la Alpujarra almeriense, cuajada de pequeños pueblos blancos. De Ohanes, famosa por sus uvas de mesa, a Laujar, de arquitectura y urbanismo genuinamente árabes, pasando por Canjayar y tantos otros pueblos donde nunca falta la buena parroquia mudéjar, una interesante plaza mayor o panorámicas sorprendentes. Son pueblos frescos, idóneos para descansar en verano. El litoral occidental es excitante y muestra al aficionado una amplia gama de posibilidades deportivas, desde el golf y el tenis, a la vela, el windsurf o el submarinismo. La provincia de Almería concentra paisajes y comarcas muy diferentes, desde la umbría Alpujarra a la recia tierra de los Vélez, con iglesias de dimensiones catedralicias, como la de la Encarnación de Vélez Rubio, pasando por zonas serranas, como los Filabres, hasta el desierto de Tabernas, donde se pueden admirar paisajes únicos en la península o asistir a un espectáculo de recreación del oeste norteamericano, porque esta zona fue en su día meca del cine europeo y ha conservado poblados minuciosamente construidos. En la Sierra de Filabres, el observatorio de Calar Alto nos recuerda que tenemos ante nosotros la atmósfera más limpia de Europa, y no faltan detalles que nos recuerdan el creciente desarrollo de la energía solar.

la cuenca del Almanzora es una comarca próspera gracias en buena parte a las canteras de mármol, zona más poblada en la que se suceden pueblos como Olula, con una parroquia totalmente construida en mármol, y muy cerca la capital del mármol, Macael. En esta zona se encuentran también localidades como Tíjola, rodeados de una vega fértil que contrasta con la sequedad de las montañas circundantes. En todos estos pueblos puede encontrarse buena artesanía y en alguno de ellos buenas posibilidades para los amantes de la espeleología y la arqueología.

El campo ofrece amplias calles y greenes grandes y rápidos protegidos por una exuberante vegetación que, además de servir de obstáculo en el recorrido del golfista, ofrece sombra y frescor necesarios durante los tórridos meses de verano. Además de trampas de arena muy bien colocadas dando protección a los greenes, el campo cuenta con varios lagos que ponen también en aprietos al jugador, al tiempo que dan realce y embellecen el entorno. Estos obstáculos de agua son determinantes en muchos de sus hoyos. Cinco de estos están afectados por trampas de agua. Son los hoyos 4, 8, 9, 11 y 12. En el 12, un par 3, es obligado conseguir un golpe muy certero porque su green está en una isla situada en el interior de uno de los lagos.

El club ofrece toda clase de servicios necesarios para poder disfrutar de una estupenda jornada de golf.

En Jaén, el viajero puede admirar en un mismo edificio, el del Palacio de Villardompardo, los maravillosos baños árabes, probablemente los más hermosos de España y arriba dos museos bien diferentes, el de Artes Populares y el atractivo Museo Internacional Naif. En otra zona de la ciudad está el otro complejo museístico, el Museo Provincial, donde se pueden constatar las hondas raíces históricas de esta tierra y su importancia con los íberos, romanos y árabes. Ciudad de cuestas, sus calles empinadas y blancas, sus barrios, que no han perdido el viejo encanto, plazoletas, jardines o la romántica Alameda, ofrecen en sí mismos un recorrido sin duda inolvidable, mientras salen al paso arcos de las viejas murallas y sobrios palacios tras cuyas fachadas se percibe el patio umbrío. El centro de la provincia de Jaén lo ocupa la comarca de La Loma, donde se encuentran Ubeda y Baeza, dos ciudades separadas por apenas nueve kilómetros de olivos que en conjunto atesoran una riqueza monumental excepcional. En Baeza se destaca la Torre de la antigua Catedral, un edificio de traza gótica. Todo alrededor suyo es arte, desde iglesias de último románico como Santa Cruz, tan raras en Andalucía, a los magníficos palacios como el de Jabalquinto, con su portada gótica-isabelina, auténtica filigrana en piedra. Todo es piedra dorada, desde la Fuente de Santa María a la revitalizada antigua Universidad. Más allá de ese denso barrio de la Catedral pueden admirarse plazas donde todo es Renacimiento puro, como la del Pópulo. La vieja cárcel, hoy sede del Ayuntamiento, impresiona por su deliciosa fachada, y no lejos están las ruinas del convento de San Francisco, y aquí y allá más iglesias y palacios. En Ubeda hay que comenzar por situarse en la Plaza de Vázquez de Molina para calibrar todo el arte que la ciudad encierra. El Salvador, otra gran obra de Vandelvira, el Palacio de las Cadenas, la complejísima pero evocadora iglesia de Santa María de los Alcázares. Nada desentona en esa alargada plaza. Toda Ubeda está llena de hermosos palacios, muchos de ellos torreados, de iglesias góticas, platerescas o barrocas; restos árabes como la Puerta del Rosal; mudéjares, como el edificio que hoy acoge el Museo Arqueológico; pero lo que define la ciudad son sus construcciones del Renacimiento, incluso ese dilatado Hospital de Santiago, cuyas torres mandan en el paisaje de la ciudad, tan abundante en ellas.

Al este de la extensa provincia jienense está el Parque Natural de Cazorla, Segura y las Villas, declarado Reserva de la Biosfera. Es el más extenso de todos los existentes en España, con más de 200.000 hectáreas. Allí nacen el Guadalquivir y el Segura y allí la naturaleza ha sido pródiga. Sus bosques son un importante pulmón de Andalucía y uno de los conjuntos forestales más ricos de España. Paisajes tan bellos se han convertido en un poderoso imán turístico para cuantos aman la naturaleza. En su entorno no faltan localidades hermosas, como Cazorla, ciudad monumental, como La Iruela, como Segura de la Sierra. Al norte de la provincia, Despeñaperros ha sido históricamente el paso desde las Castillas a las Andalucías, y como paso obligado y durante milenios el único, ha sido escenario de batallas decisivas, como la de Navas de Tolosa o la de Bailén. Cerca de Despeñaperros se encuentran pueblos como La Carolina, ejemplo de urbanismo racional, y más allá, ciudades como Linares y Andújar, grandes y activas cabeceras comarcales. Andújar conserva gran parte de su riqueza monumental, aunque ha perdido mucha con el transcurso de los siglos. Torres como la del Reloj y palacios salen al paso en su hermoso casco antiguo, no lejos del río Guadalquivir. No faltan pequeñas y hermosísimas localidades como Baños de la Encina, con hermosa Iglesia Parroquial, pero sobre todo con una impresionante y relativamente bien conservada Alcazaba árabe, la poderosa Burgalimar de los romances fronterizos. El sur de la provincia ofrece ciudades de gran interés, siempre rodeadas de olivares y de paisajes serranos, junto a comarcas que se significan sobre todo por sus atractivos naturales. La ruta Jaén-Alcalá la Real, nos permite visitar grandes poblaciones, muy activas y cargadas de historia, como Martos, Alcaudete y, sobre todo, Alcalá la Real, una de las ciudades andaluzas con más amplio repertorio monumental. Otra ruta nos lleva hacia la Sierra Mágina, caracterizada por farallones, abruptos relieves por donde vuelan águilas y halcones, y una flora rica en endemismos, encinares, pinos y quejigales.

El campo de Golf La Garza se encuentra situado a unos seis kilómetros de Linares, en dirección a La Carolina. Forma parte de una finca de 40 hectáreas en pleno pulmón de Andalucía y en uno de los conjuntos forestales más ricos de España. la Garza es un campo pequeño de cinco hoyos, que está gestionado por la Consejería de Turismo y Deporte de la Junta de Andalucía. José Gancedo, diseñador de numerosos campos de golf, entre los cuales se encuentra el de Torrequebrada, tiene el encargo de ampliar este coqueto campo de cinco a nueve hoyos. El club La Garza se creó en 1969, siendo inicialmente un club privado. En la década de los setenta se vendió al sindicato vertical por un precio simbólico y luego a la Administración autonómica andaluza. El club, al encontrarse en el Parque Deportivo de Linares, dispone de otros servicios, como un polideportivo, una piscina olímpica, campos de fútbol, instalaciones de tenis y canchas de baloncesto de primer orden. El campo se encuentra en las estribaciones de Sierra Morena, uno de los paisajes más bellos de Andalucía e imán turístico para cuantos aman la naturaleza. En su entorno no faltan localidades hermosas e importantes como Ubeda, Baeza, Andújar, La Carolina y la propia capital.

El recorrido de La Garza es muy cómodo y agradable para cualquier jugador de golf. El campo está rodeado de encinas, pinos y retamas. Tiene abundante agua al encontrarse en el enclave minero de Linares, cuyo subsuelo rebosa agua por doquier. El objetivo del club es conseguir que el golf sea popular no sólo en Linares, sino en toda la provincia de Jaén.

The field of Golf The Heron is placed to approximately six kilometres of Linares, The Carolina. It(he,she) forms a part of an estate of 40 hectares in full lung of Andalusia and in one of the richest forest sets of Spain. The Heron is a small field of five holes, which is managed by the Council of Tourism and Sport of the Meeting of Andalusia. Jose Gancedo, designer of numerous fields of golf, between(among) which that of Torrequebrada is, has the order of extending this flirtatious field of five to nine holes. The club The Heron was created in 1969, being initially a private club.
