Introduction• Negombo is a quiet beach town which lies

on the western coast of Sri Lanka, just a few kilometres north of Colombo. It is the nearest major town to the airport and therefore is a convenient place to either begin or end your trip to Sri Lanka. In earlier times, Negombo was ruled by the Portuguese, Dutch, and British colonizers.  The city is ideal for a peaceful getaway where tourists can relax and sunbathe on the beautiful golden beach and experience incredible sunsets while enjoying a plate of seafood delicacies.

Things to do in Negombo

Surfing

• Negombo is one of the safest and most secure destinations in the island for both new and expert surfers because of the calm waters and supportive climatic conditions. Surfing equipment is available via rentals located near the beachfront. Period between January and March is ideal for windsurfers whilst May and August  is recommended to try kite surfing.

Sailing

• Sailing in Negombo is an adventurous activity to try out whilst sailing boats can be hired for reasonable prices in Negombo beach. First timers are encouraged to hire an instructor for safety. Enjoying the sunset whilst sailing in the Indian Ocean could be an amazing experience to cherish for a lifetime.

Deep Sea Fishing Tours

• Set out to sea for a truly rewarding deep sea fishing experience in Negombo which is identified as an excellent fishing zone in Sri Lanka. A range of fish species are found in this area including Grouper, Snapper, Mackerel & Tuna.

Beach & Nature Photography

• Negombo boasts mesmerizing landscapes for long-range scenic shots as well as one of the most visited beaches in Sri Lanka. Photographing the beach & incredible sunsets could fill your travel scrap book with beautiful photographs.
