WHAT IS ?

• Andalusia´s day is celebrated the 28th of februaryand commemorates the 28th of february in 1980 referendum on the Statute of Autonomity ofAndalusia, in which the andalusian electorate votedfor the statute than made Andalusia an autonomouscommunity of Spain

• In many municipalities and cities of Andalusia, peopledecorate their balconies with the flag ofAndalusía and with bunting echoing its green-and-white bars. Cultural competitions are often held in conjunction with the day.

• In some cities, especially in the Málaga area, schoolsare closed for a semana cultural, also knownas Semana blanca. The Friday before is often a day ofcelebration in schools with a traditional Andalusianbreakfast, consisting of a slice of toast with a thinlayer of olive oil and orange juice

• A lot of poets write poem to Andalusia and her province ( Málaga, Granada, Sevilla, Almería, Huelva, Córdoba and Jaén ).

• The most famous poets in Andalusía are: FederícoGarcía Lorca, Rafael Alberti, Antonio machado.
