THIS WEEK’S NEWS ( So much news … )

This is not a clue!! Just a screen capture … NO CLUES HERE!! MISSING PORTRAIT OF DR. JOHN EVANS, author of the missing Report of a Geological Survey of the Territories of Oregon and Washington, which may contain heretofore unseen evidence regarding the whereabouts of the missing

PORT ORFORD METEORITE, FOUND !!

AS YOU MAY SEE AGAIN from this screen capture (above), it was on Monday, March 12, 2012, while we were in the process of opening up the This Week’s News feature, of This Week’s Puzzler, for March 18, 2012, that we received an e-mail from the now internationally known N.Y.P.Y.M. intern Dr. Juerglein Waters, Ph.D.3 with an amazing attachment which we here reproduce!!

Missing Portrait of Dr. John Evans …

Among the many, many items which Waters retrieved from the SECRET ARCHIVE at NARA he evidently held this one back for special effect!! Why??? We don’t know, but we immediately saved it (see above) as DR. JOHN EVANS – MISSING PORTRAIT ! It shows U.S.G.S. geologist Dr. John Evans, author of the famous missing Report of a Geological Survey of Oregon and Washington Territories, (see Last Week’s In the News!!) of whom there is otherwise no portrait or known likeness.

Proof of authenticity is its derivation from the NARA SECRET ARCHIVE, in addition to its being located on file with the other NARA material uncovered by Dr. Waters, is the notation, in a 19th century hand “Missing Portrait of John Evans, geologist to the Oregon Territory, 1851-52”. In addition, we think it looks like him!! Trudging through the Oregon, probably along the Eckley Trail, near the upper Sixes River -- in quest of his missing meteorite!!

In-house authorities at the Puzzler, have analyzed the portrait, and attribute it to William Tylee Ranney… largely because of the pyramidal structure. Meanwhile, some others in the San Francisco central office, suspect it mayu be a sketch by JOHN MIX STANLEY, largely because Ranney was nowhere near Oregon, ever. For more on this debate, see the series of Puzzlers which ran last month, on the disputed painter of The Trapper’s Last Shot, and related issues.

MEANWHILE….

ASS. PROF. STEPHANIE BECKON – STILL MISSING …. BUT PRESUMED SAFE!

Cryptobiological expert, Ass. Prof. Stephanie Beckon, having made contact last week, it appeared from her e-mail, that she has taken on the role of the P.Y.M. Puzzler’s own “Dora the Explorer” – although we have only the sketchiest of reports, from her own hand, with which to approximate her whereabouts deep in the Oregon boonies – a wild, virtually untracked region, in which even the most advanced GPS will fail suddenly and without warning, leaving Players who are not versed in the Tahoe Tavern method of orienteering, at some risk of death. See, What’s the Source of the South Fork of the Middle Fork of the American River? (September 4, 2011). HOWEVER!! Here’s a short run-down of what we think we know!!!

From the AP report published in the New York Times Book Review (see last week’s Puzzler – Ed.) we learned that Ass. Dr. Beckon was sighted in Polk County (Oregon),“headed south at the crossing the Luckiamute river, on Highway 99W Dean Beuhler of the SVCH in Scappoose (Oregon), pointed out to the AP that Beckon was involved in research of “red-dye algae found in serpentine outcroppings near Saw Tooth Rock deep in the Coast Range Mountains …” While there is some doubt as to the accuracy of the witnesses, the following aerial photographs seem to confirm the NY Times story:

Oregon Aerial Reconnaissance Photographs Show Prof. Beckon Talking to Herself !!

Puzzler Players know that Ass. Prof. usually drives a Porsche!! But her speech balloon suggests she really was sighted here, near the Luckiamute river on Hwy 99W – the old Applegate Trail?

Ass. Prof. Beckon, still ruminating out loud, at her undisclosed intermontane “research site,” deep in the Coast range -- somewhere near the headwaters of the Sixes River

Page 4: ACROPYM PUZZLER --SHIPWRECKED !!

“Red-dye producing algae found in serpentine outcroppings” ?? We didn’t have time to comment last week, when this story was still breaking, and we at the P.Y.M. Puzzler were yet gripped by anxiety over Ass. Dr. S.B.’s possibly precarious fate … and the F.B.I. spent the day Tuesday, with me in my motel room….

NOW however: I confess total surprise – and that is all I confess to -- at this latest revelation, disclosing yet another facet of the multifaceted, versitaceted, budding leader of the P.Y.M. – or shall I come right out and say it? Yes: the S.Y.M. !!! Fiat S.Y.M. For Ass. Dr. Stephanie -- who even in a context of crisis, forays into the wilderness, into such a remote, inaccessibly mountainous region … truly a no-man’s land – but in doing so, leading us all to …what NEW DISCOVERIES? I know not! Indeed, although only rarely in cell range, she is yet somehow joined with us by an unspoken unanimity of purpose…

And Saw-Tooth Rock? You ask? Saw-Tooth Rock … in its undisclosed location

Saw-Tooth Rock is a geologically anomalous erratic identified only on one of the earliest Oregon G.L.O. maps of the region – was it even on a rejected G.L.O. survey?? ?? Hmmm. Except those who may have access to the Puzzler’s “Saw-Tooth Rock” file, in our New York offices, Saw-Tooth Rock is thought to be completely unknown. Meanwhile, as mentioned earlier, Ass. Dr. Beckon had some early exposure to Dr. Waters’ NARA research on Dr. John Evans Report of a Geological Survey of the Oregon and Washington Territories …. (See, especially, last week’s Puzzler).

Did she see something there, that we haven’t yet discerned??? ?? ? ? ?

SOLUTION SUPPLEMENT ACCOUNCED E.G.S. LaRue Al’Harrouche has specially directed that The Solution Supplement to last week’s Puzzler, Can You Explain the Abrupt Vanishment of Falls City (Oregon) Tent No. 2 Knights Of The Maccabees ?? shall be released two weeks hence: that is, on April Fool’s Day! Cool.

Look for it in your e-mail box …..

And now … !

HOW CAN YOU EXPLAIN the SHIPWRACK of DAVID FASOLD’S NOAHS ARK?

PLAYERS!! FIRST -- Let Gargle Earth can take you there!! To reach an image – a virtual Noah’s Ark in situ in a virtual Gargle Earth, enter “Dogubeyazit/Agri, Turkey in the “fly to” search field in your Gargle Earth program. Dogubeyazit, or Dogubayazit, is the big town in this region – Agri province – of Turkey. From there, slide or hopscotch southwest in the direction of Yukaritavia and Telceker to your real destination and destiny: Uzengili. Or search directly by Uzengili/Agri, Turkey in the same search field – BUT BEWARE of Uzengili BAYBURT Turkey, players: you want to be in the easternmost reaches of Turkey, near the Iranian border. ZOOM IN for a closeup of Uzengili in Agri province, to recognize the near perfect symmetry of the remains of Nuh’un Gemisi— aka Noah’s Ark

The Golden Thumb Pin with the Golden Label “NUH’UN GEMISI” -- seen on these image captures, does not appear on the Gargle Earth imagery, although there are plenty of photos uploaded in this area, marked “Nuh’un Gemisi” – which show the entombed and fossilized residual structure of the Ark. Players should have no trouble “navigating” to the site on Gargle Earth.

Recently, a courteous fellow-human has uploaded a virtual 3-D model of the Ark, into the Google Earth, giving it a measure of structural definition , which en grosse, corresponds fairly closely with the subsurface readings taken by David Fasold, Sam Windsor and a number of other researcher’s, taken on site since 1984. For details, see Sam Windsor’s articles “Noah’s Ark: It’s Geometry,” Catastrophism and Ancient History, Vol.__, pp. __-__ (1995) (available online), and “Noah’s Ark: 24,000 Deadweight Tons,” Catastrophism and Ancient History, vol. __, pp.__-__ (1995) ( available online). Of course, see David Fasold’s out-of-print book, The Ark of Noah… @ www.amazon.com

Page 6: ACROPYM PUZZLER --SHIPWRECKED !!

THE LANDING SITE OF NOAH’S ARK From the model you can “surf” to the virtual site of the landing of Noah’s Ark….

The landing site of Noah’s Ark at the base of the prominent escarpment that marks the summit of Mt. Judi (or Çudi Dagi) can be located by surfing southward to approximately 39 25' 24.94" N 44 14'32.78"E -- a coordinate near the base of this escarpment. Upon “arriving” there, note that another curious – and courteous – fellow descendant of the survivors of that Ancient Shipwreck , has uploaded a number of photographs to Gargle Earth, in this area: check out the imagery posted by Jebellawz -- an interesting handle, reminiscent of the Arabic phrase Jabal al Lawz.

David Allen Deal, a longtime friend, supporter, and research colleague of David Fasold, has done extensive on site research not only at the site of the remains of Nuh’un Gemisi, but also at the higher altitude “resting place” of the vessel, at the foot of this escarpment, or “The Wall of Heaven” – as it is referred to in the Epic of Gilgamesh. Deal has also conducted numerous preliminary scientific explorations of an archeological nature, and identified the site of an extensive settlement or city, called Nauxuana, or the City of Noah – long abandoned and now ruined into the ground -- near the summit of the mountain, Çudi Dagi. Some isolated elements of Deal’s wide-ranging and meticulous field research are available online, at http://www.noahsark-naxuan.com

But what about the SHIPWRACK of Noah’s Ark, Players? How to explain that?

Page 7: ACROPYM PUZZLER --SHIPWRECKED !!

AND HERES A HINT!!

KNOW YOUR VESSEL: The Landing of Noah’s Ark is referenced in Fasold’s 1989 book The Ark of Noah, and Fasold located the landfall site at a point near the summit of the mountain Al Judi --alternately, Çudi Dagi -- at the base of the escarpment illustrated above, from images taken from Gargle Earth. At the base of this escarpment -- The Gate of Heaven, or the Wall of Heaven -- David Fasold, Ron Wyatt, and later Sam Windsor and others, identified a reverse impression of the ark formation, indicating the original landing site. At an indeterminate time in the ancient thereafter, the vessel was apparently dislodged in a massive mudslide, and slid downhill to its present location. This movement is described by Sam Windsor in his fax (Players!!! Remember the fax machine?)

A.C.R.O.P.Y.M. PLAYERS !!!! --

.. This selection of faxed correspondence dated August 16, 1994, between forensic nautical engineer Sam Windsor, formerly of the firm Bronson & Windsor, of Seattle, and ship-salvor and Ark-ologist Capt. David Fasold, then of Poway, California ( near San Diego). The correspondence highlights a point of terminology that may be useful for your own analysis!! In his fax (above) Fasold discusses the movement of the Ark on the water, opening with… “The problem is semantics between bow and stern …” This fax then goes into a brief but highly expert/specialized discussion -- see, paragraphs A.-D. -- of the orientation of the Ark on a moving sea, in terms of the unique hydro-dynamic features of its design! Read carefully! Understanding these principles and nautical terminology will aid you in your analysis!!

Page 8: ACROPYM PUZZLER --SHIPWRECKED !!

“WRACKED AND COMPRESSED”

The detail – below -- from Fasold’s Preliminary Survey Map © 1985 (from which we select at our own risk! ) which shows a “plan view’ of the Ark -- the “bow stem” is identified by Fasold, at the left -- with a Star and Crescent. Unlike conventional, or familiar, sail-powered vessels, the bow or forward end of the vessel, in Fasold’s analysis, is the larger or blunt end of the vessel; while the stern is the narrower tapering end of the vessel, which trails in the water: orienting relevant to the current, like a hydrofoil. See again, Fasold’s August 16, 1994 fax to Sam Windsor – reproduced above!!

Therefore, to bring basic conventional nautical terminology to bear in the description of this unique vessel, if the blunt end of the vessel is the bow, the area of interest for This Week’s A.C.R.O.P.Y.M. Puzzler would be to the left or port side of the vessel, as you face forward: which is shown in this detail.

FASOLD, AS A TRUE CREATOR, INNOVATOR AND CARTOGRAPHER HOLDS THE COPYRIGHT TO THIS MAP -- EVEN IF IT DID NOT ALSO BEAR HIS COPYRIGHT CLAIM NOTATION !!

Meanwhile, as can be seen on the full image of the map shown on the cover of This Week’s Puzzler, (see the cover!!1

1 NOTICE FROM THE P.Y.M. PUZZLER LEGAL DEPARTMENT: The complete imagery of Fasold’s Preliminary Survey Map has been obscured, in recognition of his copyright. Fasold was famously aggressive and successful in protection of his copyrighted plans for the conceptual reconstruction of the Ark – which is perhaps one reason why his accuracy and faithfulness to his data, are not better known. Fasold successfully defended his copyrighted research both in Australia (see, e.g., David Fasold vs. Allen Roberts & Ark Search Association, Inc. No. G942 (NSW Dist., (1992)) and in the United States (see, e.g., Fasold vs. Multimedia Entertainment, Inc., et al. (U.S. D.C., Dist. Ore. (1995)), where his original copyrighted research was validated.

) …

DROMGOOLE COMMENTS: Even in reproducing here for the first time the small sample of that map that we have, the P.Y.M. Puzzler may be walking into the cross-hairs of YET ANOTHER copyright dispute !! But while the Puzzler is willing to take on such phonus balonus copyrights as that asserted by the G.K.W.M. at the Boodiddlian, over Digby MS 123, (see OCCUPY AOI!! (December 4, 2011)) and the peel-and-stick copyrights of the mad map-collector, Ramsey TM (see various Puzzlers since How many Hidden Nooses Can You Find? (December 11, 2011)), David Fasold was a creative genius, and his original research is embodied in this Preliminary Survey Map. Equally important: he litigates!!! And he wins!!! He has high-powered legal counsel – or, he, having now passed away, his estate does!!!! But that, after all is what copyright is for: the protection of the rights associated with original creative work. And since this map has never before been published in any form, even by taking minimal samples as the Puzzler is doing here, we run the risk of a cognizable violation which could be prosecuted in the courts of the United States. HELP !!!

Page 9: ACROPYM PUZZLER --SHIPWRECKED !!

Fasold’s readings of subsurface iron lying in longitudinal patterns, is prominent and regular in the starboard half of the vessel, while he has not shown the same regularity of longitudinal lines on the port half of the vessel. Upon a closer examination, it appears there may have been a reason for this – as Fasold added a notation in this same area of (what we have just recognized as) the port side, which reads:

This Area wracked and compressed. Disdoration [Distortion]

See preceding page. “Wracking” is a nautical term of art, which indicates the process of stressing, twisting, intrusion and destruction of the vessel which results in a “wreck” of the vessel. This quadrant of the forward port side of Fasold’s Ark, near the bow, evidently yielded such irregular -- or perhaps even chaotic -- iron readings, that Fasold was unable or unwilling to map them in this Preliminary Survey Map.

And therefore, Players, we come to the crux of this week’s

A.C.R.O.P.Y.M. Puzzler …

HOW CAN YOU EXPLAIN the SHIPWRACK of DAVID FASOLD’S NOAH’S ARK?

And Here’s A Hint: From a careful examination of Fasold’s map, based on his field survey readings which he repeated on site, over the course of a number of visits to the site, and which Sam Windsor and others were able to confirm, the “coming to rest” and the landing of Noah’s Ark, was something unlike the images embroidered into pillowcases and printed on greeting cards and coloring books; namely, that is, one in which a seamlessly intact Ark is seen – generally balancing perfectly upright on its keel -- while the animals parade blithely down the gangplank to enter a verdant awaiting landscape – one cleansed of the majority of the faithless among mankind.

But that an entire quadrant – at least -- of the Ark appears from Fasold’s subsurface iron readings to be “compressed” and shows evidence of “wracking and distortion” indicates some kind of collision on the order of “an irresistible force” meeting “an immovable object” – generating impact forces of some sort sufficient to crush and collapse in the side of a vessel which Windsor conservatively estimated as displacing 24,000 deadweight tons … and aboard which the entire progeny of Noah – and perhaps a handful of others -- representing the ancestors of all future races of mankind, as well as the ancestral pairs of all species of mammals, “birds of the air’ etc. etc. were being shipped – literally between worlds.

Such a collision, resulting in such a ship, undergoing such wracking, also had to have an effect on the passengers aboard, and indeed, was likely to have occasioned such severe emotional trauma and stress, that it inevitably must have inflicted a universal PTSD on the all these representatives – literally, upon the entire race of mankind, leaving the entirety of the human race subject to a condition of impaired faculties, and subject to the effects of borderline psychosis.

By which we mean to suggest, if you, A.C.R.O.P.Y.M. Players, are able to solve This Weeks’s A.C.R.O.P.Y.M. Puzzler, you may thereby succeed in “regressing” the collective psyche to such a point, that you could enable mankind to “relive” this traumatic event, and by such means YOU might succeed in helping the human race to “shake it off” at last -- and start behaving rationally. Finally!! Can you do it? YES YOU CAN:

YOU ARE THE A.C.R.O.P.Y.M.!!

NOTE: In keeping with the rules formulated by the O.M.I.G.O.d. for the running of A.C.R.O.P.Y.M. Puzzlers, NO SOLUTION WILL BE PROVIDED FOR THIS WEEK’S PUZZLER. You are totally on your own. However, this also means you have all the time in the world, within which to reach THE SOLUTION. GOOD LUCK!!!
