Hi everyone!

This is me, Antero. Yesterday I visited Lauri’s home. Lauri is a nine-year-old boy who lives here in Turenki, Finland. This is what we did...

Lauri and I woke up at 7 o’clock.

We had bread and applejuice for breakfast. Lauri read Donald Ducks to me.

Lauri brushed his teeth. The toothbrush was too big for me. I didn’t like it anyway...

Lauri’s dad took us to school by car. Lauri’s home is about two kilometers from school. The school

started at 8.50 a.m. At school we first read and wrote little stories.

Next we visited our library. Everyone had woolly hats on. It was a cold morning, about

-5 degrees of celcius.

At the library I was reading a Moomin book. The pupils were looking for books to borrow. It doesn’t

cost anything to borrow a book in Finland.

A librarian read us a story about a little fox named Vuk. Everyone listened to it very carefully.

It’s breaktime!

We played hide and seek outside. We have a little forest next to the school.

At 11 o’clock we ate lunch at the lunchroom. Everyone eats at school.

The menu is for six weeks. So, we eat different food every day for six weeks and then the menu starts

again from the beginning.

After lunch we had maths. We did multiplication with little cubes.

On the last lesson we made decorations on our gym bags. Handicrafts if fun! Our

schoolday ended at two o’clock.

After school Lauri and I attended the afternoon club. Lauri did his homework at

the beginning.

Page 17: A Pupils Day In Finland

Today the pupils in the afternoon club had a chance to play games at the gym hall next to school.

Lauri and I came home at four o’clock. Lauri did the rest of his homework: writing the letter ‘k’. Lauri’s little sister is not at school yet. She was drawing

animals.

At home we ate Lauri’s favourite food: spaghetti bolognese.

In the evening Lauri went to sauna with his family. Almost every house and apartment in Finland has a sauna. Sauna is a little hot room with temperature over 70 degrees of celcius. It

was too hot for me!

At nine o’clock we read a good night story and went to bed. It was a fun day! Good night.
