I am a wife and mother of two children, one very large dog, and three overly furry cats. I am also an accidental entrepreneur.
In my senior year of college I wrote a small computer program and at that very moment I fell in love with technology. Ever since I’ve been glued to soLware and I love using it to do good.

ü It is a CMS or content management system. This means it is a great tool for controlling and displaying lots of “stuff” – text, images, and videos.
ü It’s free. You can pay for some themes and plugins, but for the most part it is 100% free!
Why Do So Many Cool Websites Use WordPress?
ü It stored in the “cloud”, so the soLware can be used by anyone, anywhere and at any 8me.
ü It’s super easy to use. If you can use Word, you can use WordPress. ü You can create really cool things with it. All you have to do is dream it,
WordPress can do it with a database called MySQL and code like PHP and CSS. That’s nerd talk that you only have to learn if you want to.
ü It’s really easy to learn because there is so much free informa3on available on the internet. Free tutorials, videos, and support forums are all wai8ng for you and ready to help teach you WordPress.
Why Do So Many Cool Websites Use WordPress?
ü There is a huge community of people behind it. The community creates and supports the soLware. We are also friends and we support each other.
ü It’s based on a GPL (General Public License) which means it is open source. This really means the “community” owns it and not a person or company.
A Few Facts About WordPress
ü Mad Mullenweg and Mike Lidle created it in 2003 while in college.
ü They just wanted a beder way to blog and share images. So the create it.
ü Today WordPress is used by 20% of the websites in the world.
ü Time Magazine named Mad one of the 30 People Under 30 Changing the World.
ü Mad is now worth well over $40 million dollars.
ü You can set up a free account and start using it at WordPress.com. ü Or, you can download it from WordPress.org and use it anywhere. ü You can customize the look of it with thousands of themes. ü You can add a ton of features by using any of 29,000 free plugins available:
