CUTTING TRIALS OF BIRD PROFILE FOR SIAM FIBER IN WATER JET MACHINE WITH RACK-AND-PINION

Chennai, has newly built a Water jet machine with rack and pinion mechanism.

The cutting trials of bird profile were made with that machine for Siam Fiber to check its accuracy and advantages of rack and pinion.

The trials were made with ply wood, since Siam Fiber cutting material was not available with us.

The results of the trial and visual samples are presented.

tuning some parameters, accuracy can be made better with Siam Fiber Material(material used here is ply

wood) and also by further tuning of parameters

mm can be achieved at high speeds using rack and pinion mechanism.

Vibrations in rack and pinion machines are extremely less since rack and pinion are rigidly fixed to the machine body unlike ball-screw which is fixed only at two end points of the machine.

Rapid movement speeds of up to 35mm/min can be achieved reducing the cycle time drastically.

For Linear Cutting the feed can be around 20m/min

Low vibrations ensure long life of the machine.The cycle time for cutting 8 pieces of Siam Fiber

profile was 71 secs in the test conducted, which can be further reduced.

conclude that using the Rack and pinion mechanism on both X and Y axes gives more reliable and stable result with highest accuracy , high speed, less vibration and long machine life which is suitable for Siam Fiber

If Siam Fiber provide some sample materials we can perform the same test and provide the results.
