I think that this font works better as a bigger font rather than a smaller one. However, I do not think it would work well as a label on an energy drink as it is not clear enough to read or understand.

Automatically after experimenting with this font I realised that I really dislike it a lot. This is because I find it really hard to understand and realise what it reads. The letters ‘N’ and ‘U’ look like a ‘K’ and an ‘O’. If I was to use this on my product it would read wrong and people would not know which drink they were buying. Also, the numbers are too different to the text and look as though they were put together separately.

This is my favourite font which I tested, as it is very clear to read as well as clear at which season the drink is promoting. However, I think that it works better as a bigger font than a smaller one, as the text becomes hard to read.

I also think that this is another good font which worked well. I can tell it is promoting Christmas and it gives off a good happy vibe. If I am going to use this font I will definitely try to keep it as a large font rather than a small one. However if it is more clear to read in a different colour, as a smaller font, using this could be an option.

I tried the text Irn-Bru 32 in the ‘candy cane’ font in many different colours to see which work and which don’t. The colours I chose to test were those which I was mostly like to use.

However I am glad I did this test as I found many colours did not work with each other.

The colours I found that worked, and would look good on my work, were the Orange and Black, Orange and Grey and also Orange and Green.

Lighter colours which I tried tended to look to bright which then made the text almost un-readable.

Product development

I am going to be designing the new can for the drink Irn-Bru 32. As it is an energy drink and many other exiting energy drinks come in a can, I would like to stay on the same idea and use a tall thin can similar to the one used for Red-Bull. The current packaging for Irn-Bru 32 is also this shape, which is another good reason to keep it the same size.

I thought that I should go onto Photoshop and do a brief example of what I thought may work. However when I came to do this I did not like the idea at all. I found that the black can was just too dark and that the blue did not fit in very well with the black. I now have to think of another idea as this one has failed to work.

This is another design which I tired, however this is for Christmas where as the past design was for Halloween. Although this is a very simple design, I think it works very well and serves its purpose as to letting people know it is promoting Christmas.

Those were the designs of the drink for the seasonal idea. However I am now going to look at designing a can for the normal packaging, when there is no occasion happening.
