About Place Profiles

Place Profiles are computer generated reports that provide a high-level analysis of an area and tell a ‘story of place’. The reports can be generated on a range of topics, with Summary Place Profiles providing an overall assessment of economic, social and environmental conditions.

The reports can be generated at a range of spatial levels, from sub-region, through to neighbourhood level. They set an area within its wider context, comparing performance with neighbouring areas, as well as regional and national averages. They are illustrated with maps and charts and include all the data and indicators underpinning the analysis.

Using the very latest data at the time of creation, Place Profiles have a number of research and policy applications, including: benchmarking local area performance: creating local area profiles; developing local strategies; monitoring and evaluation; and setting an area within its regional and sub-regional context.

Place Profiles provide a quick, easy to understand and yet comprehensive analysis of an area. They help in identifying an area's core strengths and weaknesses. They can be purchased as single reports or on subscription.

- Society: demographics; occupations; prosperity; deprivation; health; crime
