Evolving Value Chain Nanotechnology

EVOLVING VALUE CHAIN NANOTECHNOLOGY
• Primitive technological capabilities: A few that we can anticpate today are appllications that manipulate atoms, drug-delivery systems, and nanophotolithography
• Complementary searches: Using nanotechnology in the semiconductor industry may not be possible until the enabling photolitoraphic tools are invented
• Clusters: Nanotechnology will prompt he formation of clusters in at least two major industries, biotechnology and microelectronics
• Specific problem/wider application: by definition it is immposiblle to accurately predict wider applications of progress in nanotechnology
• Evaluating real needs of customer: Customer needs that drive the science of nanotechnology are faster, smaller, and cheaper computers in the microelectronics industry or improved drug-delivery systems in the biotechnology industry
