DESIGN FOR CHANGE CONTEST
Children of Marandapalli Village, Soolagiri Block,
Krishnagiri District
INTRODUCTION Children from 66 AID INDIA Eureka Superkidz
Centers in Vellore, Cuddaore, Kanchipuram , Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri participated in this contest
The drive of this contest is to connect the child’s voice to the Panchayat and lay the foundation for a Dream Village!
OBJECTIVES
To help children voice their opinions and participate in issues that affect them through informed debates and discussions.
To actively encourage children on community action to get their needs heard in the Panchayat.
PROCESS INVOLVED1. The children identified condition of the roads
of their village.
2. They categorized the roads based on their condition.
3. They identified the consequences of the damaged condition of the roads.
4. Children leveled some roads for vital communication by filling the piths with sand, as a temporary solution.
5. They submitted their petition to village Panchayat heads in the form of pictures and charts.
CHILDREN IDENTIFIED THE CONDITION OF THE ROADS
ROADS WERE CLASSIFIED
Roads were categorized based on the severity of needs.
Roads were:1.Soil roads2.Unlevelled roads3.Filled with stones full of ups and downs
SUMMARIZED THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE DAMAGED CONDITION OF ROADS
Commutation over long distances were of great trouble.
Travelling in times of emergency was made difficult because of road condition.
Water logging on the road piths were dangerous.
Children’s commutation to CLCs and schools were also difficult.

NEEDS SUBMITTED TO PANCHAYAT
Children submitted their petition to village Panchayat heads in the form of pictures and charts.
