The ‘IN Salford’ endorsement logo has been created to promote the city of Salford as a whole and to create a mechanism for a joined-up partners and stakeholders within the city.

These guidelines give an overview of how the ‘IN Salford’ visual identity works and the basic guidelines that need to be followed.

‘IN Salford’ logostyle

The ‘IN Salford’ endorsement logo is an easy to use device that can be simply added to promotional material as a badge or logo. For details regarding the placement of the logo, please refer to page 6.

This logo may not be redrawn, distorted or altered in any way.

The ‘IN Salford’ endorsement logo has white keyline around the outer edge as a default. The keyline allows the logo to stand out better on solid backgrounds or images.

Logo colour

The logo colour is magenta, chosen for its up-beat and highly visible properties.

It also has been selected for ease of reproduction across many applications. Whether printing as spot colour or out of 4 process colours, 100% consistency should be achieved.

Logo secondary colour

The secondary colour is solid black and was chosen to compliment the main colour both visually an in its ease of application.

Secondary colour use is reserved for black and white printing or if the main colour is not available.

Coloured stock useWhen printing onto coloured stock, the logo in the secondary colour should be used. The logo text will appear reversed out of the coloured stock. This is the only circumstance in which the logo type can appear in another colour (i.e. the colour of the stock).

Logo clear area

A clear area around the logo will ensure visibility and impact on every communication.

As illustrated below, the height of the logo is the standard unit of measurement for calculating the minimum logo clear area.

Logo placement

While the ‘IN Salford’ endorsement logo provides a high degree of fl exibility, consistent placement of the logo will help to ensure recognition and a cohesive look across all media.

Following the clearance rule on page 6 of these guidelines the logo can be placed in any of the four corners of any page. See examples below.

Digital artworkFF Din Salford font has been specially created to produce the ‘IN Salford’ endorsement logo and is not supplied as a system font for Macs and PCs. Digital artwork has been created with this in mind. The logos have been saved as Adobe Illustrator EPS fi les, with the fonts outlined. Your computer will not need the font to read the logo.

The supplied artwork is designed for use within recognised graphics and publishing applications such as QuarkXPress, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Macromedia Freehand.

It is essential that this guide is followed at all times, to maintain a consistent quality across all publications which carry the logo.
