DESCRIPTION

Engadget posted an article asking, “What would you change about the HTC EVO 3D?” Not owning the phone, I wanted to look it up and compare the “3D” to the first generation EVO to see what HTC had to say about it.

I started by doing some digging on HTC’s site

Page 4: HTC EVO vs HTC EVO 3D

HTC’s homepage is clean and readable

If you are visiting HTC’s site, you probably know they make phones. The menu is clear and

directs the user to click through rather than inundate him with sub-menus.

1. Find the phone in the

giant list

HTC has a compare wizard… cool

Navigating the wizard is straightforward, albeit cumbersome feeling

2. Hit “Add to Compare”

(Is compare being used

as a verb or noun here?

Who cares!)

More compare…

The moment of truth

For the record, I did not cut this screenshot off early

Page 22: HTC EVO vs HTC EVO 3D

http://www.everybodyscritic.com | @EverybdysCritic

As a consumer, I would look at this and think…

Page 23: HTC EVO vs HTC EVO 3D

Processor means speed,

and bigger GHz = more

speed, so, EVO 3D has .2

more

difference matter? What is

Sense? Why is Android

trademarked

inconsistently?

What is the difference

between eMMC and

ROM, and why are they

being compared? The

one on the left looks

bigger.

Dear Site Map,

You cannot help me solve my

problem, because rather than

present solutions, you just present

line-items.

Thanks,

Everybody’s Critic

If only my

webpages

were organic…

You find out that HTC’s website is… Alive!?

The scary part about this is that after someone conceived of using this workflow, someone else

likely approved it…

Page 36: HTC EVO vs HTC EVO 3D

What have we learned?

Page 37: HTC EVO vs HTC EVO 3D

http://www.everybodyscritic.com | @EverybdysCritic

HTC’s strategy? Build phones that are all pretty similar;

overwhelm consumers with choice; hope

they pick our phone at the end of the day

Page 38: HTC EVO vs HTC EVO 3D

What about the EVO vs the EVO 3D?

Page 39: HTC EVO vs HTC EVO 3D

The Conclusion: If HTC can’t tell me the differences on their

own site in a clear manner, I don’t really care.
