Facebook do’s

• Introduce web links and say what you like about the video, website etc.

• Encourage students by ‘liking’ their contributions and occasionally participating in discussions.

• Tell students in class that there is a good link on the class FB page.

• Discuss links/conversations from the class FB page in class.

• Ensure students are aware of what is acceptable and monitor FB activity for appropriacy.

• Look for current useful information to share and enjoy learning with your students.

• Spend 5-10mins a day ‘watering’ your class page.

Facebook don'ts

• Don't post too much as this can often prevent student discussion/participation. This might be because the students do not want to question the teacher.

• Don’t insist on participation. Participation is probably not graded and one or two students will not be comfortable with using FB.

• Don’t set up the page, tell the students about it and forget about it.
