Installing the JDBC 2.0 Driver for DB2The JDBC 1.22 driver is the default driver on all operating systems (including Windows 32-bit). If you are using DB2 with JDBC, you can upgrade to the JDBC 2.0 driver to take advantage of the new features of JDBC 2.0, such as batch update, to improve performance.

➤ To install the JDBC 2.0 driver:

1. Ensure the following services are stopped on your database server:

– DB2 JDBC Applet Server

– DB2 JDBC Applet Server - Control Center

2. Run the usejdbc2 command from the sqllib\java12 directory. This command performs the following functions:

– Creates an sqllib\java11 directory for the 1.22 driver files

– Backs up the JDBC 1.22 driver files to the sqllib\java11 directory

– Copies the JDBC 2.0 driver files from the sqllib\java12 directory to the appropriate directories.

3. Copy the file \sqllib\java\db2java.zip on your DB2 server, then paste the file to the same machine that is running Hyperion Business Modeling.

4. Select Project > Container Setup to open the Container Setup window.

5. Select Add to display the Add Container window.

6. Select DB2 under Type on the Container Setup window, and browse to the location of db2java.zip to select the new driver.

■ 25Hyperion Business Modeling Installation Guide

Page 26: Hbm install

Note: You can have two DB2 containers with different versions. If you are connected to one version (for example, DB2, version 7), and want to switch to the other version (for example, DB2, version 6), you must restart Hyperion Business Modeling; otherwise, the connection will fail.

For other DB2 users, you can set up the JDBC 1.2 driver under the Other Databases option on the Container Setup dialog.

➤ To switch back to the JDBC 1.22 driver:

1. Ensure the following services are stopped on your database server:

– DB2 JDBC Applet Server

– DB2 JDBC Applet Server - Control Center

2. Run the usejdbc1 batch file from the sqllib\java12 directory.

3. Copy the file \sqllib\java\db2java.zip on your DB2 server, then paste the file to the same server that is running Hyperion Business Modeling.

4. Rename and save the existing file HBM_other.sql.

5. Clear the contents of the file HBM_other.sql.

6. Copy the contents of the file HBM_DB2.sql into the cleared file HBM_Other.sql in the Hyperion Business Modeling folder.

7. Select Project > Container Setup to open the Container Setup window.

8. Select Add to display the New Container window.

9. Select Other Databases under Type on the Container Setup window, and browse to the location of db2java.zip to select the driver.

10. Click Create to create the new container.

Note: You can have two DB2 containers with different versions. If you are connected to one version (for example, DB2, version 7), and want to switch to the other version (for example, DB2, version 6), you must restart Hyperion Business Modeling; otherwise, the connection will fail.
