Educational iPhone Apps for Kids

Does your kid have an iPhone? Does he also have an Xbox, a PS3, a Wii and a laptop?

Yes, these are the toys for kids today. Gone are the days of playing hide and seek with

the neighbours and spending all day outside the sun playing and having fun.

Nowadays, kids are becoming more visible online than in the actual world! Kids are

always either on the phone, online or playing with their consoles.

Now, all these advancements in technology are welcomed changes in our lives- these

have really made our days so much easier. But, as a parent, you might be a little

worried with your kids’ too much exposure with technology.

But as more developers and educators become aware of the role of technology in the

everyday lives of little kids, they have developed educational tools that would still be

appealing to today’s techie generation.

One of which would be the fact that there are more educational iPhone apps for kids

today. A lot of software developers are making some apps for iPhones, iPads and iPod

Touch that would give your kids a chance to learn while they are having fun.

It is actually quite surprising that it is only now that the educational apps category is

starting just now. There are millions, if not billions, of apps on the iTunes Store about

the most bizarre things! But I guess we just all have to be thankful that developers are

thinking of more ways to help educating kids today.

Right now, there are thousands of educational apps that you could find in the iTunes

App Store. Some other mobile phones like Blackberry, Android, etc. can also provide

your kids with some educational apps, just search for them.

Now, one of my favourite apps for children would be those that use the abacus math

learning strategy. There are many abacus math apps online today and most of them

are for free! You can introduce these apps to your kids and show them that using the

abacus is really fun.

The great thing about the abacus math apps is that it actually hones your child’s mental

arithmetic skills. This is where a kid learns to solve mathematical equations without

having to use a pen and paper. All the calculations and problem solving are done

mentally! How cool would that be! Right?

There are many more fun games that you can download for children. There are some

apps that focus on languages; some are for enhancing their memories and a lot more.

Technology can be your friend or foe. But since the internet is here to stay, better make

sure that you could utilize all that it has to offer for your child’s future.
