Cool Apps Hidden From the Mac App Store
Cool Apps Hidden From the Mac App Store
Mac seems to be left out in the cold. Apple’s iOS devices make up a big chunk of
Apple’s revenue. Microsoft still holds an insanely huge percentage of the desktop
market when it comes to operating systems.
That doesn’t mean Apple’s Mac OS X has no support. In fact, it has an App Store.
The same rules and regulations that make up the vast iOS App Store also apply to
the Mac App Store, only in fewer numbers. That’s because to make it in the App
Store, you have to go through a tight process.
Fortunately though, there are plenty of third – party apps you’ll find lurking on the
Internet that help you make your Mac even better. Just check out this list.
iStat Menus
If you’re a total computer geek and you love seeing charts
all over your dashboard, then iStat Menus is the app for you.
It’s a really comprehensive monitoring app that displays
plenty of information on what’s currently happening in your
computer.
Basic features include temperature readings of your hard
drive, fan speed and voltages. You can control the fan
speed and create specific settings when not connected to
your Mac’s charger.
You also get a graph that monitors the bandwidth in your network, graphs that
display how much space you have left on your hard drive and even the
percentage of RAM memory used and how hard the CPU is working.
CleanMyMac
If you’re new to the Mac interface, it can get quite
confusing. Not to worry though, because CleanMyMac
helps you manage your files.
This program deletes any caches, logs and plenty of
other stuff that it deems unnecessary.
One great feature of this program is that it makes uninstalling apps easy. Just drag
the icon of the program you want to uninstall towards CleanMyMac, and you’ll be
prompted whether or not you want to remove the other extra files that come with
it. It definitely helps you keep your hard drive clean and efficient.
Papers
Papers is an academic app that you’ll no doubt find useful,
even if you’re just an ordinary student or already working.
It works by organizing all of your papers into neat columns
that allow you to browse through them easily. It’s like iTunes,
except this time, only for your research. You don’t have to
create individual folders and whatnot in Finder just to
organize your papers.
With Papers, all you need to do is import your files. Sources will be organized too for
quick referencing. You can arrange it by author, website, periodical or whatever.
All in all, Papers is one big document compiler you’ll find very useful. This is also
great if you’re a writer and you want to organize your thoughts cohesively. This
program is great for anything writing – based.
Conclusion
These three apps are great additions to the already wonderful Mac OS X.
So why not sell your laptopand purchase a new one especially right now,the OS X is
now released and it is called Mountain Lion, filled with plenty of features. By getting
that and then getting these three apps, you’re on your way to becoming the most
productive person on Earth.
