PowerPoint Presentation

Disruptive thinking: disrupting marketsWith at least 1500 self-declared start-ups currently operating in Australia and a spate of recent global success stories like Atlassian, Freelancer, and OzForex larger enterprises are taking notice of their up-and-coming counterparts like never before. Many big businesses are proclaiming their intent to disrupt like a start-up; some are taking it further with seed funds, incubators, and employee stints in co-working hubs. But what does disrupting like a start-up really mean? And can traditional organisations really do it?As a Technologist and IBMs Bluemix lead for A/NZ, David has witnessed firsthand how organisations can transform with themselves through disruptive technologies and business models. In this session he will share with you the blueprint to becoming a disruptive market force.

Accelerate digital transformation by building on an open-standard, open-source based platform to deliver a vision and strategy to market.

Hybrid cloud options to choose the right balanced environment of agility, security based on organisational needs. Move with the speed of a startup in public, private cloud or on-premises to leverage existing infrastructure.

Increase the rate of innovation and time-to-market by shortening application development time through catalogue services and databases to quickly iterate to value.

Business Leaders take digital leadership

Who do we cover in Enterprise Businesses? LOBIT/CIODevelopers

Create a DevOps workflow pipeline for developers from dev/test to build and out to production, designed with iterative lean sprints in mind.

Standardise environment, runtimes and dependencies allow consistency of operations.

Protect and manage production with strong governance and measurability support from secure environments, project management, policies and more.

Reduce costs and risk with operations while building a consumer-scale, enterprise-grade platform.

Focus on integration, cloud orchestration and building out an API economy within the organisation to uplift operations into creating new value streams.IT Operations optimise & empower

7Reduce re-work by creating boilerplates rather than writing components for each build

Leverage existing services created by the organisation, third-party or open-source community

Utilise container technology for light-weight transportation of code and environments rather than bulky VMs

Gain insights from machine-learning, big data analytical systems with minimal code

Support mobility with cloud-native back-end security, operations and analyticsDevelopers code with confidence

The TRANSITION _ Finding NEW Opportunities

11Prasad:Todays IT demand is being driven by a combination of new & disruptive technologies. The interesting thing is that Big Data and Business Optimisation is at the core of this change. Think about this 90% of the worlds data has been generated over the last 2 years. 50% of the Fortune 500 companies will have a Chief Data Officer by 2015. You need to optimise your business by reducing costs and driving efficiency and also cater to the demands of new technology today a lot of data is being generated with the explosion of smartphone devices and social business. Combined with the fact that Data is the new natural resource, organisations can uncover a lot of key information on which to base decisions growth of predictive analytics. Data needs to be even more secured with the mobile device explosion cyber security.

HealthXL Hack Aging

We encouraged them to focus on the most urgent problems of Australias aging population and that resulted in 18 solutions with real market opportunity designed throughout the weekend. - Kwang Lim, Chief Medical Officer, Northern HealthHackathons in IBM BluemixANZ RMIT Bluemix Hackathon

We could implement any of these ideas right now" ANZ's GM of global payments and cash operations Nigel Adams said.

We'd love to move forward with all seven ideas and we'll be working closely with RMIT to further develop some of the thinking."

Infrastructure as a Service (and specifically IBMs acquisition of SoftLayer) was the clouds initial answer to the need for faster deployments, faster environment setup, etc by abstracting the infrastructure from the customer.

- Reduce re-work (use service, APIs, boilerplates not writing components)- Containers instead of VM- Analytics (insights)- Mobility (particularly back-end security, operation, analytics)

Middleware as-a-serviceBringing the full IBM suite of solutions to the cloud

With IBMs leading middleware solutions available in containers, familiar & powerful technology solutions are at your fingertips

Banks are becoming software companies, needing to build faster than ever before. With digital innovation platforms such as Bluemix you can create ecosystems to involve partners to be more than you.

Speed-to-value with PaaS

PaaS (1) reduces upfront risk by enabling rapid provisioning of environments & services which in turn encourages exploration of new opportunities and continuous iteration

Compared to a traditional approach which requires CAPEX to provision infrastructure, Bluemix (2) realises immediate value when paired with an agile development approach.

In turn by focusing on iterative code development, Bluemix (3) lowers end-to-en
