This animated visualization overlays data on government benefits onto a county-by-county choropleth map of the United States.
The arrows on the top right enable users to animate through decades, going back to 1969. On scrollover, the choropleth map reveals a time series graph for the corresponding region against the national average. The left-hand sidebar shows detailed breakdowns of the data by different government programs.
And most importantly, the guide to key trends provides a narrative for noteworthy regions and patterns.
