Introduction

This tutorial will introduce you to blogging, an online forum where you can quickly post thoughts, interact with people, share photos and more. The best part is that blogging is free.

N.B. Basic computing skills are required to complete this project.

Objective

By the end of this tutorial you will be able to successfully create and run your own blog site.

What is a Blog?

A blog is a web site where you can write information, news, ideas etc on an ongoing basis.

The latest posts appear at the top. Visitors to your site can comment on it, link to it or email you. A blog give you a voice and connects with others.

Examples of a blog

Family news, share photographs, especially useful if your family is overseas.

Travel blog, record all your news and views of your travels.

Hobby or craft area, e.g. a book club can post their comments and exchange views.

3 Easy Steps to creating a blog

Create a Google Account by filling in your email address and entering a pass word. Type in word verification and accept terms of service.

Name Your Blog

Give your Blog a title , then type in the blog address and word verification.

Chose a Template

Select from one of the many templates, you can preview any by clicking on the “preview template” text.

Samples of templates

Click on the template of choice and press continue.

First post

This window will appear and you are ready to write your first post. When you have finished you can either preview your post or publish it.

Uploading a Photo

Uploading a photo is easy, create a new post then select the add image button to upload a photo. The screen above will appear so you can browse which photo to upload.

View Your Blog

Click on the View Blog button to see your creation.
