HISTORY OF TURKEY LACROSSE OPEN

First ever international lacrosse tournament held in Turkey. June 15-17 2012 at Enka Sports Club in Istanbul welcomed national teams from Bulgaria, Israel and of course, Turkey. The event was called “BUZZER LACROSSE OPEN” after our tournament sponsor BUZZER energy drink company.Israel took first place with an 2-0 record. Second place went to Bulgaria with a 1-1 record. The home country, Turkey, took 3rd place with an 0-2 record . This was great experience for the Turkish players as most never played in a real game and never amongst other nations.PIZZA BULLS gave free pizzas all weekend to teams and fans. Has Otomotiv donated a 45-seater Mercedes-Benz bus to transport teams the entire event from hotel to fields to after parties and so on. Our naming sponsor gave free limitless BUZZER energy drinks, water and food to all participants throughout the event

2013 TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW• Second international field lacrosse tournament in Turkey• September 23-28 2013• We highly recommend that teams arrive between September 20-22 to take full advantage of all the events planned• Everyone can stay longer past the tournament end date if they like.• First tournament played with new common field line markings for both men and women on same field• 16 men’s and 10 women’s teams with 23 max players for each team• Located in Alanya, Turkey• Day and night games• Each team will receive a local liaison throughout event• Umpires and Referees from around the world• ALL-INCLUSIVE resorts for all tournament housing• Minimum of 6 games per team • Ground transportation is included• Beach lacrosse fun tournament on 23rd and 24th September 2013• Main tournament from 25th to 28th September 2013• Main stadium holds 15,000 • Playing surface is natural grass• Clinics for players, coaches, umpires, referees and youth• Open to all friends, family and fans• And much much more…


ALANYA, TURKEY• Is a beach resort city in the Mediterranean Region of Turkey, known as the Turkish Riviera. • Because of its natural strategic position on a small peninsula into the Mediterranean Sea below the Taurus

Mountains, Alanya has been a local stronghold for many Mediterranean-based empires, including the Ptolemaic, Seleucid, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman Empires. Alanya's greatest political importance came in the Middle Ages, with the Seljuk Sultanate of Rûm under the rule of Alaeddin Kayqubad I, from whom the city derives its name. His building campaign resulted in many of the city's landmarks, such as the Kızıl Kule (Red Tower), Tersane (Shipyard), and Alanya Castle.

• The Mediterranean climate, natural attractions, and historic heritage makes Alanya a popular destination for tourism, and responsible for nine percent of Turkey's tourism sector and thirty percent of foreign purchases of real estate in Turkey. Tourism has risen since 1958 to become the dominant industry in the city, resulting in a corresponding increase in city population. Warm-weather sporting events and cultural festivals take place annually in Alanya.

• September 23rd and 24th from 19:00-22:00• In the heart of Alanya city center on the harbour where all clubs, bars, shops

and restaurants are located• The harbour will be filled with local and tourists from around the world• Hand out promotional material and showcase lacrosse educating about our

sport and getting everyone excited about the main tournament• Under lights• Live DJ• 5 v 5 plus goalie• 2x15 minute running time• Teams will be mix of women and men players• Teams will be drawn out of a hat before each evening• It is all about fun

CLINICS Clinics will run on Monday September 23rd and Tuesday September 24th from 10:00-

12:00 then 14:00-16:00. They are open to anyone and everyone and are free to all teams. players and public.

• Men’s Player Position Clinics will be conducted by John Christmas (attack), Kyle Sweeney (defense), Jordan Hall (Midfield) with others to come.

• Women’s Player Position Clinics will be conducted by various experienced European players.

• Referee Clinics will be conducted by various zebras from around the world.• Umpire Clinics will be conducted by various members of the black and whites from

around Europe• Youth Clinics will be conducted by professional lax players from US and Canada and

by Turkish players. This is optional for all arriving players and teams but is highly recommended to help us grow the game to the locals.

• Coaching Clinics will be conducted by various individuals with vast coaching experience


MEN’S TOURNAMENT• First come, first serve• Individual players welcome• 16 teams in total• 10 v 10• Natural field turf• International Rules• Ages 16 and older• Players are responsible for their own travel insurance• 23 max players per team• Min 4 games per team• Day and night games• All-Star game• We are currently working on tournament game schedule brackets now


WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT• First come, first serve basis• Individual players welcome• 10 teams total• 12 v 12• Natural turf field• International rules• Ages 16 and older• 23 max players per team• Players are responsible for their own travel insurance• Minimum of 4 games• Day and night games• All-Star game• We are currently working on tournament game schedule brackets now


CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY

• Women’s final• Men’s final• Other placement games for both men and

women• Awards ceremony with the Mayor of Alanya

handing out awards• Closing party (we have some surprises in the

works)


REFEREES• Don Blacklock is Referee in Charge• Referee accommodations are provided but all other accompanying guests

must pay the normal rates per night per person• Tournament unique referee uniforms will be worn and are kept as soverniers• Must pay their own airfare• Ground transportation to/from airport provided• Ground transportation to/from stadium provided• Must arrive not later than September 22nd 2013 but recommend arriving on

the 20th or 21st • Own locker and meeting rooms in stadium• Will work in a mix team for the Beach Lacrosse Festival during the evenings of

September 23rd and 24th with umpires• Will participate in Referee clinics during the days of September 23rd and 24th

COSTS

• Children 7-12 are 27Euros (35USD) per night and ages 0-6 are free
