Research:Props and CostumeAs a group we realized we needed to carry out in depth research into some key areas. We have delegated this among the group:Myself- Costume and propsHamzah- location Reda- casting
Before looking into props we would use, I carried out some research into existing props and costumes used in well known boxing films. In boxing films you tend to see costumes that directly relate to the sport of boxing. As with all sports costume is very significant in establishing and identifying the sport. Props work in the same way as many are strongly symbolic of that sport itself, ie boxing gloves,
Movie’s I’ve previously looked at.
Even in these still shots and movie posters we can clearly see
how costumes and equipment are used effectively to convey
and establish the sport.
White male wearing full boxing gear
Key prop used is a boxing ring used in both training and actual fight.
Training gear such as hoody and tracksuit and vest.
Punching bag another common training element in boxing
Wraps are used for the protection of the boxers hands
Boxing equipment in films:
Full boxing gear tends to be really minimal and revealing
Boxing equipment:
Boxing shorts

Boxing shoes
Hand wraps

Challenges Equipment may be quite expensive to obtain. Even though
we’ve have the possibility of funding from the media department. However, as one of group members, Reda, is boxer he has the costumes and equipment we require. We will still consider other option. But, most likely for reliability and convenience we’ll use Reda and his equipment.
We must find a main character who’s got body confident as the I learnt boxing costumes are really reveling.
