Hot Yoga Safety Tips
Hot Yoga is one of the latest fitness craze, especially in the United States. Originally started by
Bikram Choudhary, it has picked up so well across the world, that he has trademarked and
licensed his Yoga type as Bikram Yoga and more commonly known as Hot Yoga.
The essence of original Yoga has been retained in the Hot Yoga but Bikram has cut down on
few asanas and made few of his own, based on science and experience. His Yoga has fewer
but more intense poses and asanas. The fact that Hot Yoga is to be done in a room where the
temperature is cranked up to nearly 105 F, means you are bound to sweat! This is great,
according to experts of Hot Yoga, because sweating releases all toxins of the body and makes
you feel a lot more positive! This burns a lot more calories than regular exercise and if done
properly, the muscles get worked and strengthened.
But well, as is the case with any exercise, experts advice participants, especially beginners, to
study, research and talk to instructors beforehand. Here are some tips:
If you are planning to take a Hot Yoga class or go to a Bikram Yoga studio for the same
reason, reach a little beforehand and talk to the instructor. Tell him or her about your
background, generally ask questions about the techniques involved, safety tips from the
instructor, ask for any medical records etc. This will help you understand the whole
process a lot better
Before starting any exercise regime or a diet regime, it is highly advised that you consult
your doctor whether it is safe for your to pursue that option or not. many a times, what is
good for everyone may not be so good for your body type and health condition
Another important tip is to take it easy and begin it slowly. It is great to be highly
motivated and excited about your new exercise regime but if you are a beginner or a
starter of Hot Yoga, please take it one class at a time. Do not over do it the first few
classes because your body takes a little time to get sued to the poses - you definitely do
not want to get hurt or feel overly tired
Another safety tip will be to make sure you go to a legitimate class and a licensed
instructor. For every fitness trend in any country, there are many fraud classes and
instructors. Go to professional and well established classes so as to get the best value of
your time! You do not want to be cheated!
Lastly, Hot Yoga is a great option for people who love doing muscle training, body strengthening
and cardio exercises at the same time! Just be careful about a few facts about your body and
keep up the motivation levels - you will see great positive results!
