THE POWER OF PASSION

Text: Matthew 21:28-31 Two sons.

By those two sons our Lord intends to represent the conduct of the Jews, and that of the Publicans and sinners.

In my vineyard.

To work in the vineyard here represents the work which God requires us to do.

I will not.

This had been the language of the Publicans and wicked men. They refused at first, and did not profess to be willing to go.

Text: Matthew 21:28-31 Repented.

Changed his mind. Afterwards, at the preaching of John and Christ, the publicans--the wicked--repented, and obeyed.

The second--said, I go, sir: and went not. This represented the conduct of the

Scribes and Pharisees--professing to obey God; observing the external rites of religion; but opposed really to the kingdom of God.

Introduction (cont’d) If passion fades, we believe that is a

bad sign

When an individual can create and do great work that they enjoy, that they were "created" for, and they do it well, and they receive the natural benefit of that work, passion is inevitable.

We believe passion can be sustained within the Church, a business and that it can be the difference between a daily joy, and a daily job.

Needs For Passion (cont’t) Passion is the

single fastest way to spur yourself to massive success.

It is something you love. Something you're excited about. Something you get up early to work on or to stay up late.

Needs For Passion (cont’d) When we do things out of passion, God

releases a certain power to and through us. (2 Cor 12:9; Phil 4:13)

The game breaker for a fruitful Christian/leader is his/her passion, the driving force of his heart. (John 15:5)

Whatever burns from within, can be smelled from without.

Passion is the fire of the deep desire that attracts others. When we are passionate about something, we attract others to walk with us. (John 9:4)THE POWER OF PASSION: A MOTIVATIONAL CLASS BY BRO. EFFIONG TOM

Needs For Passion (cont’d) Passion can be wrongly

interpreted, but for us, passion is represented by some key attitudes.

We don’t manifest all of these attitudes all of the time, but if we have passion they will be present from time to time: fervor, intensity, perseverance and tenacity, pleasure and joy in the work, the desire for innovation and new experiences and dreams of the heart

When we lose passion We lose passion

when we allow the vision to become common and without value.

We cannot speak of the vision in vain. Neither should we transform it into the object of jokes or associated it with unimportant things.

When we lose passion (cont’d) We lose passion when we

allow routine to dominate us.

We must break the power of routine so that it doesn’t extinguish our passion.

We accomplish this through the renewal of cycles, by establishing new and higher goals. We must face challenges not flee from them. We must remain outside of our zone of comfort.

When we lose passion (cont’d) We lose passion when

we begin to depend on external motivation.

This happens when we are fuelled by applause. Our motivation must be to remain in Christ. Competition with others destroys our original passion. (John 17:4)

When we lose passion (cont’d)

We lose our passion when we permit the apathy of the world to contaminate us. (John 4:34)

Don’t seek personal comfort as your first priority. We live in a generation void of ideas whose pattern is playing video games, surfing the Internet, watching television and passivity before the world. We want to finish everything rapidly merely to go back to being idle and doing nothing. We feel like we are taking advantage of life when we are not doing anything. This is the death that the devil has injected into the world without God.

2. Passion ignites others

Leader’s have the ability to ignite others with their passion. Having people on your team who are passionate brings results and motivation. This is why it’s important for leader’s to have it.
