Supernatural Horror• Supernatural horror is a sub-genre

which includes demons, ghosts, spirits, etc…

• Usually the themes that are included go against the nature of the world. This could be possessions, which then gives the character super abilities.

• Also, supernatural horror is related to demonic themes such as witchcraft and, afterlife, this adds more suspense to the movie, instead of just having a serial killer just kill the characters, in this genre the character is killed by the possessed person or attacked by them, however leaving enigmas of how he was killed or where did he go.

characters introduced into the film.

• What the movie had that was inspirational is the over-voice there is in the trailer

Conventions:• There was a haunted house because there was a death.

• An evil spirit which possesses the daughter.

• There is rapid pace of music.

Inspirational Features:• The movie ‘Carrie’ is inspirational because it all based on a girl that has

telekinesis. However she is bullied by many and get vengeance on the people that were bad to her. So I took inspiration over the story of Carrie.

• The black out there is and fade outs.

Conventions:• The characters are all serious and mean towards Carrie from the

beginning only the teacher is helpful and understands Carrie, also the way she dresses up is old fashion.

• The locations is a mixture of Carrie’s house and the school, with some scenes of where she goes to buy the materials for the dress.

• A Convention which was used was used exaggeratedly was the screaming of the main character which was used various amounts of times through out the movie.

looking at herself in the mirror which is behind the screen.

• Another inspirational feature that this movie has is the fact of using a Cassette that if anybody watches it they have seven days before they die.

Convention:• Suspense is built since they start bit by bit increasing the pace

of the music.

• The location of the where the people watch the clip is usually in there home.

• The screaming in the trailer adds more enigmas towards the film.

Psychological Horror

• Psychological horror is a subgenre of horror fiction

• It relies on characters fears and emotional instability to build tension.

• Psychological horror aims to create discomfort by exposing psychological vulnerabilities and fears, such as the shadowy parts of the human psyche which most people repress or deny.

• Psychological horror relies on the unknown, mystery and signs to create an ominous feeling, lots of different events building up the whole picture.

remember about an incident that happened therefore she is sent to the Ward.

• The protagonist doesn't know what's happening, and she is seen as crazy by the workers at the Ward.

Conventions:• Isolated in a dark room. This adds on to a more horror

effect to the trailer/ Movie.• Ghost. That’s what tries to kill her.• Equipment such as medical instruments that are used to kill

by the ghost.• An axe is use to defend herself (the protagonist).

life situation (Car crash) which then led to her night terrors.

• What I also find inspirational in this trailer is the way they managed to combine real life with fiction, therefore giving the genre a mixture of Psychological with supernatural influences.

Conventions:• Suspense is built since the music is calm at first then starts

increasing the pace of the music.• The location is usually in their home, incidents happen at

night.• The screaming in the trailer adds more enigmas towards the

film.

which records the victims.• Another inspirational feature that was used in the trailer

was the use of montage.• Finally, the inspirational feature that I really was

convinced to use in my trailer is the use of madness of the characters.

Conventions:• Dark isolated room were the characters will be when the

‘game is going to start’.• Torture instruments are used every time a ‘game’ is

presented.• Death is what the character gets if the game isn’t

completed within the certain time limit.
