Facebook Research: The Audience of Major Niche Players
ObjectiveTo identify demographic data for readers who follow the major players in your niche/sub-niche. These are the readers you want to attract yourself.
Process Technique 1• Use the search bar and enter search queries like [pages “sci-writers”] or [pages “non-fiction writers”]. • You will see a list of Facebook pages, either individual or group pages.• Click the page title, visit the page and look at the “About” section. Take not of any website listed.• Go to alexa.com and enter the URLs of both the Facebook pages and websites of pages listed.• List the demographic data which is for visitors to these pages.

ObjectiveTo identify demographic data for readers who follow the major players in your niche/sub-niche. These are the readers you want to attract yourself.
Process Technique 2• Use Graph Search and enter search queries like “people who like pages liked by [x], where X is an authority within your niche.• Proceed to analyze demographics as shown in the previous slide.
Google+ Research: The Audience of Major Niche Players
ObjectiveTo identify demographic data for readers who follow the major players in your niche/sub-niche. These are the readers you want to attract yourself.
Process• Use the search bar to find major authors and/or Google+ communities relevant to your niche. • Click the About link and note any website link.• Go to alexa.com and enter the URLs of both the Google+ pages and websites of pages listed.• List the demographic data which is for visitors to these pages.

Once you enter a site URL in alexa.com, you will see the following demographic data related to the site.
• Gender and educational level.• Browsing location.• Audience geography by country.• Keywords which sent traffic to site.• Sites visited before this site.• Sites related to this site.• Other sites owned by this site.
Examples of these data screens are shown in the following slides.
Where to From Here?
With the data collected from these exercises, you should now have a good grasp of the demographic data you need to target to build an audience.
If you have the persistence, you can also befriend the pages and the people you have identified, and add authors and communities to your Google+ circles.
To proceed from here, let us now look at how you can now target and build an audience using low-cost and effective Facebook advertising. This I will explain in the following slides.
