Trevor Braden, MD 86 Willow Street South Portland, ME 04106 To Whom It May Concern, This letter is in regards to an interaction that my wife and I had with Mr. Michael Waxman and his client, Mr. Igor Malenko. The interaction took place at the South Portland Community Center (Sf'Ct,') on the evening of April 28, 2009. I believe that Mr. Waxman's actions were an attempt to intimidate and harass my wife and me as caregivers to Mila. As background, my wife and I have been offering child care when Lori's employment obligations take her out of town. We know Lori as a friend and neighbor and have been doing all we can to help Mila. We often participate in the exchange of Mila to/from her father at the SPCC and have been doing so since the Fall of 2008. On this particular occasion, my wife had brought Mila earlier in the day to her father. During that exchange there were threats from Mila's father that he would not be bringing his daughter back later in the day. When my wife returned home she called Lori to let her know that the exchange went poorly and that Igor was threatening not to bring Mila back that evening. When I came home from work, she asked if I would accompany her when she went back to get Mila as she was not comfortable going alone and was expecting more hassle. As it turns out, she was right. We arrived at the SPCC a couple of minutes early and finally, about 5-10 minutes after Mila was to be exchanged, a man neither of us knew came up and said, "Are you Lisa and Trevor?" Surprised, we said we were. We asked him if we should know him and only then did he acknowledge that he was Igor's lawyer. Without further preamble, he started asking me if I were a doctor. I stated that we were just there to pick up Mila. He continued on and on- at times accusatory (at one point he made a comment that my wife was defensive with Igor) but mainly trying to pry information out of us.

To Whom It May Concern,

This letter is in regards to an interaction that my wife and I had with Mr.Michael Waxman and his client, Mr. Igor Malenko. The interaction tookplace at the South Portland Community Center (Sf'Ct,') on the evening ofApril 28, 2009. I believe that Mr. Waxman's actions were an attempt tointimidate and harass my wife and me as caregivers to Mila.

As background, my wife and I have been offering child care when Lori'semployment obligations take her out of town. We know Lori as a friend andneighbor and have been doing all we can to help Mila. We often participate inthe exchange of Mila to/from her father at the SPCC and have been doing sosince the Fall of 2008.

On this particular occasion, my wife had brought Mila earlier in the day to herfather. During that exchange there were threats from Mila's father that hewould not be bringing his daughter back later in the day. When my wifereturned home she called Lori to let her know that the exchange went poorlyand that Igor was threatening not to bring Mila back that evening. When Icame home from work, she asked if I would accompany her when she wentback to get Mila as she was not comfortable going alone and was expectingmore hassle. As it turns out, she was right.

We arrived at the SPCC a couple of minutes early and finally, about 5-10minutes after Mila was to be exchanged, a man neither of us knew came upand said, "Are you Lisa and Trevor?" Surprised, we said we were. We askedhim if we should know him and only then did he acknowledge that he wasIgor's lawyer. Without further preamble, he started asking me if I were adoctor. If there are any questions or need for clarification, please do not hesitate tocontact me .

Throughout the encounter Mila was in earshot and this made us even moreuncomfortable because Lori has always been very careful not to discussthings in front of Mila. Any attempt we made to end the encounter, getMila, and leave was met with more questions by Mr. Waxman. Finally, afterat least 5 mintues, Igor came up to us with Mila. Mr. Waxman continuedthis uncomfortable conversation until we took Mila. She appeared shakenand confused. Thankfully, once we got her home, she was her usual, wonderful, energetic self.

I can only imagine Mr. Waxman's intent in showing up that evening. I'msure he thought he was only going to be facing my wife- the cowardice andpremeditation wreaks of harassment and intimidation- and I am certainlyglad that I was there that evening. To think that Lori has to face this on anongoing basis is sickening.

I am not certain about a lawyer's code of ethics but after that evening, I feltthat many boundaries were crossed. The evening left me with a very sourtaste in my mouth and makes me more certain that Lori and Mila need ourfamily's support.
