How to measure for a bra?
Bra is one of the most important undergarment a woman wears. This is because a bra
remains next to your skin the entire day. Therefore you need to make sure that you wear
correct size. Imagine the discomfort you would experience throughout the whole day
because of wrong bra size.
You probably know that your bra size does not remain the same for any great length of
time because change is a law of nature and your breasts are no exception. The only
difference is that change is more noticeable at some times and less at others. The change
becomes most evident in cases of weight loss, weight gain or during pregnancy.
Even though a bra remains the most intimate item of a woman’s wardrobe, research has
shown that about 75% of women do not get their bra size right. This results in problems
such as sagging breasts, pain in the shoulders, or tightness in the chest. Therefore, it is
important to get the size correct in order to avoid problems and feel elegant, feminine and
confident.
It is very easy to determine your bra size and there are two methods of achieving it. Both
require a measuring tape. Method 2 is more accurate and should be used to obtain results
using centimetre where method 1 to obtain results using inches. Please refer to the picture
below to find out where to measure each of steps:

So, how to measure for a bra?
Method 1 (using inches) less accurate, one step only:
• Step 1:Take the measuring tape and measure around the chest, directly under
the breasts. If you get an even size number, then add four inches or else add
five inches to get your chest size. For example if you measure 30 inches, then
you need to add another four inches, which will make your size equal to 34
inches. If you measure an odd number such as 29, then you need to add 5
inches and your size will work out to 34 inches.
Method 2 (centimetres) more accurate :
• Step 1: Using the tape, measure around your chest under your bust, at the
level where the lowest part of your bra should sit. Try not to let the tape slip

down at the back; it needs to be level all the way along. Take this
measurement (in cm). Write down the number.
• Step 2:
Next, measure around the fullest part of your breasts; don't squish them. This
measurement in cm is your bust size. Write it down.
• Step 3: To get your under-bust girth just compare result from step one to the
table 1 below.
• Step 4: To get your cup size take band size from step 1 and subtract from your
bust size (step 2). Compare the difference to the table 2 below and check your
cup size.

Most bras come in standard sizes, but you will find that bras marked the same size but
manufactured by different companies will give different results.
The easiest way to buy a proper fitting bra from all manufacturers is to compare
results from method 2 with manufacturer's size charts. Most on-line sellers have
them available on all product pages, only click a model of bra you are interested in
and look for sizes.
Happy shopping
