How to make your video clickable Transcript from online seminar 13/09/10

• Thanks for joining us everyone; we’re excited to be here at the first ever demonstration of Buto’s clickable video feature, brought to you today on launch day, after a long weekend of system migration.

• The team has been developing and testing clickable video for a few months now and we hope we’ve come up with something you’ll enjoy – the world’s first clickable video system that anyone can use.

• You may have seen the little animation video on our http://get.buto.tv homepage: several items in this video are already clickable, but we’re going to add another.

• At 20 seconds in, items in the video such as Becky’s computer, her cocktail dresses and her CDs become clickable. We’re going to make the eggs in her fridge clickable too.

The first thing we need to do is create an in-video ad. From the video details page, click ‘in-video adverts’. These are what will appear in the player when a region is clicked.

We can choose a title, description, link text and link URL, and even an image if we want.

Next go to ‘Clickable Regions’ on the left hand side of the video details page. There’s already a group of

clickable regions we’ve created called ‘Public site hotspots’ which we’re going to add to now.

• This is the Regions editor. It’s where you go to set up all the clickable regions in a video. First we’re going to click ‘Add new hotspot’, and give it a name.

• Next, we’re going to play the video (or scrub along the time line) until the point where the eggs first appear, and click them. We can resize the region that’s appeared until it’s the size of the area we want to make clickable.

• Now we’re going to play until the last point where the eggs are and click again. If the object moves around much, you can set other hotspots at key points in its path.

• You can go back and adjust the position and size of the hotspots by moving along the timeline and clicking to adjust them.

• Now choose the in-video advert that you want to appear when the region is clicked (we’re choosing the ‘Eggs’ ad we created earlier) and click ‘Save’ then ‘Finished’ when you’re done.

• When the video is played, Buto will create a clickable area that follows the object, resizing when necessary.

• You’re clickable video is nearly ready! This one’s already embedded in our website, and already updated. But if it’s the first time you’ve added clickable to a video, you’ll need to go to the video publish to switch on clickable ads.

• Click ‘Edit’ beside the publish that you want to add clickable video to (in most cases this will be the Default Publish)

• Click ‘Advert options’ , select ‘Clickable Regions’ under ‘In-Video adverts’ then choose the Clickable Regions group you want to apply and click ‘Save’.

• Now if we go to watch the video and click on the eggs, the video will pause and the in-video advert for eggs will appear.

• As a viewer I can choose to click straight through to the linked page (remember this could be a command to your e-commerce system to ‘drop in basket’ or anything you like).

• At the end of the video I’ll be taken to this list anyway, so I can choose what to do next with all the different things I’ve clicked on.

• If I close the ad, the pointer icon on the bottom of the toolbar will flash to tell me I can check back on all the hotspots I’ve clicked at any time.
