• Do you want your own website? One you can put anything on? With your own format? Basically… your personality in digital form!

Step by Step just for you

• On the web page you will see on the right hand side a small rectangular box that should say please choose. Click on what type of business you want your website to be about. (Just to start off slow, click personal) And then click GET STARTED.

Create your account.

• Fill out the form on the page that says create your account.

Set up your site

• The site address is what you type in to get to that site. For example, a website already on the www is; www.infoboutgermany.webs.com

• NOTICE: your website address will automatically have the .webs in it. Try to make your website address short and catchy. To start off with just name the site “practicewebx”. Put the site title as Practice!

• For the Site category: find and click personal

Select a template

• In the search box for a template just type in: “earth” and then find the template that says: “Plant earth water” and click on that. Scroll down and hit the next step button.

Your halfway there!

• On the bottom- if you scroll down there are additional pages and check both boxes. Interests and guest book. Then click create my site!

• MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT DO ANYTHING ON THE NEXT PAGE just click the no thanks, continue button on the top right.

BLOG

• Next to the word Blog on your website click the settings button and type in whatever you want. And then submit it.

About me

• On the top left hand corner of the screen there is a box and it should say Blog. Click the box and go to the About me page. Then click the content box. Add a title and what not on the page. Then go to the photo gallery.

Photo gallery

• Click the add photos button. Name your album whatever. Click upload photos and upload a photo of something other than a person. Click submit. Add details if you like. Then click save. Then go to videos page.

Videos

• Click add new video. Name the channel whatever. Go to YouTube and get a URL for any appropriate video. Put the title and details if you wish. Click the submit button. Then go to interests. Skip members because there is nothing to do on that page.

Interests

• Click on the content box. Put a title and details of whatever. Then go to the guestbook.

Guestbook

• Post a comment if you want. Refresh the page and see if your comment was posted. It should be. If not, do it over.

Extra Tips!

• Next to the little box on the left side of the page there is a tab that should say: Page options. Click on this and you can change various things for any page on your website. Go ahead and try anything.

• Then go to the tab that says: New page and you can add any type of page. If you want to try it- Go ahead.

• There is also a tab that says ?Help. This is a help button for the guestbook. Then on the right side of the page, click the view button. A new window will appear and this is what your website will look like when you publish it. If you don’t like what you see, go ahead and make changes. When you are done, click the done button.

• If you scroll down after you click the done button, click on the button that says + Add applications. You can add various apps such as arcades, calendar, stores, etc.

So now you know

• So now you know how to build a website. For your assignment, I want you to design a website about yourself. Tell the www about yourself and your interests. DO NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC LOCATION AND YOUR FULL NAME. And remember, HAVE FUN WITH IT! Go ahead! Get started!!
