How to Enjoy Your Job Everyday

1. Measure your job

Break your job into 15-20 discrete tasks. Write different objectives for each task. Make

sure these tasks are finite not extending beyond a day and ideally 2-3 hours. Make sure

the objectives are measurable. For example:Task-Business review with boss, Objective-

Getting help to achieve sales targets. Task duration-2 hours. At the end of the task you

should know whether you got the help required or not.

2. Identify your top 5 values

Values are personal and might have no relation with your job at all. It is not difficult to

find your top 5 values. You can refer

http://www.gurusoftware.com/GuruNet/Personal/Topics/Values.htm to zero down on

your personal values or You could email me at [email protected] to help you

find your top 5 personal values. A value is that which one acts to gain or keep. A value is

a belief, a mission, or a philosophy that is meaningful. Examples of values are-Expertise,

3. Align your personal values with every task and its specific objective

It means that when you are performing a particular task you should gain one of your

personal values. For example, if you are doing a business review with your boss and if

your personal value is honesty-You be totally honest while answering all your

questions. That does not mean that you don’t perform and always admit your mistakes.

But since you are honest, before the next review you will make sure that you

acknowledge the reality and take corrective measures with discipline to improve your

performance and communicate the same during the review to ask for help accordingly.
