So I Am Married, What Can I Do with My Dress Now?(http://www.vogueseason.com/)
Brides often struggle with deciding what to do with their wedding dress after the wedding. For some brides, the
dress is a sentimental item, and for others it is just a dress. There are several options for every bride on what to do
with the dress after the wedding.
Trash the Dress
Create a Trash the Dress photo session using unique ideas such as splatter painting, mud wrestling, rolling on
sandy beaches or jumping in fountains. Trash the dress creates a unique and fun photo opportunity for after the
wedding or on a one year anniversary.
Preserve the Dress
Bridal boutiques often offer options for preservation boxes. The dress will be cleaned, pressed and professionally
packed away into a sealed preservation box that protects against dirt, dust and water. The dress can be removed
years later and look good as new.
Display the Dress
Preserve the dress in a way it can be displayed by spreading it open and sealing it inside a large picture frame,
where it then becomes a beautiful work of art inside the home.
Create a Child’s Christening Gown
If a bride comes from a Catholic background, oftentimes they will have a christening gown made for a future
daughter. A baby’s christening is a sentimental and spiritual moment and having the child wearing the wedding
dress makes it all the more special.
Decorate a Photo Album
For a crafty bride, a good option is to create a wedding photo album with different pieces of the dress. The cover
may sport the front of the dress while the pages hold smaller pieces of lace, beading or embroidery.
Donate the Dress
There are several areas in which a wedding dress can be donated. Many new brides cannot afford a brand new
dress and rely on the kindness of past brides or shop for wedding dresses online in order to find their dream
wedding dress.
Host a Bride Tea Party
Host a girl’s tea party with married friends where they all wear their wedding dresses and look over current
wedding dresses in Vogue Season, one of Hong Kong’s best dress designers. Make the party an annual event where
the women can later bring their daughters who can take a turn wearing their mother’s dresses.
Make a Pendant
Create a wedding dress pendant which holds a piece of the dress to keep close to the heart. Make several to pass
down to daughters, give as gifts to bridesmaids or flower girls, or a gift for a mother and mother-in-law.
Create a Shorter Dress
Bring the wedding dress to a good tailor and create a shorter dress for anniversaries and formal parties. If the
wedding dress contains a lot of tulle, several tulle skirts can be made as well. The bride can use the skirts as gifts
and keep the main dress for herself.
Save the Dress for a Daughter
Preserve and save the wedding dress for a future daughter so she may wear it on her special day and pass it down
through generations. Once a daughter reaches her wedding day she may alter the dress to make it her own while
also sharing a special moment with her mother.
A wedding dress does not have to sit in a closet and collect mothballs. It can remain as special as the day it was
worn and involve several different people in a new and beautiful way.
