Coupon Sites in Australia – A complete list of Top Discount
Sites
Use of coupons is a great way to save money and many businesses now offer coupons and
vouchers for budget conscious consumers who want to save money on their everyday
purchases.
Couponing is very popular in US and UK but it is relatively new in Australia and very few
genuine coupon sites exist to cater for this rapidly growing market segment.
We looked at more than 120 sites and evaluated them on a number of criterion including
availability of the coupons, trust factors associated with the site and whether or not they can
be classified as a coupon sites as coupon sites differ from pure discussion forums or other
user generated content which is often unverifiable.
Here is a list of sites in order of their usefulness, safety, and trust according to our score
calculations. Top two sites are okay for client recommendations based on their high scores.
Note: Sites in red are those with a score of less than 50. Visit them at your own discretion.
1. Top Bargains – Score (73/100) A community based couponing website with a
friendly outlook and good scores on coupons availability and trust as reported by
third party tools. This site outscored others in almost every criterion we set for this
comparison. https://www.topbargains.com.au/
2. RetaiMeNot – Score (67/100) Massive coverage of Australian online retail despite
being a US site. This site runs mostly on user-generated coupons and they seem to
be doing a great job. No community or Australian presence though.

3. OzBargain – Score (59/100) – Similar to TopBargains but very few coupons, as this
primarily seems to be a user forum.
4. Buckscoop.com.au – Score (52/100) - No user community.
5. ShopADocket – Score (51/100) - No user community.
6. Finder.com.au – Score (43/100) - No user community, misleading content.
7. OzDiscount – Score (39/100) – Trust issues with this site. No user community.
8. SavingStory – Score (35/100) – A high number of expired coupons. No user.
9. CuponNation – Score (32/100) – Poor reviews and trust issues. No user
community.
10. The Bargains Avenue (29/100) – Trust issues with this site. Filled with false
discounts to force clicks. No user community.
11. Coupns.com.au (28/100) – Spam issues
There were 109 others sites, which were so poor that we excluded them from being listed
here, as they may not be suitable for safe browsing.
List of Tools Used to Generate the Scores
- Google Page Rank
- Majestic Trust Rank
- Text Sentiment Analysis using AlchemyAPI
- Whois Privacy
- CTR/Bounce Rate/Social Proof (using various tools)
- Facebook/Google+/Twitter pages corresponding to coupon sites where they were
available.
- Proprietary Analysis software (contact your business partner for details)
How to pick great coupon partners?
- Look for the ones with existing communities. Coupon sites with no communities such
as Finder.com.au are harmful for your business, avoid them at any cost.
- Pay on placements, not on performance. You get what you pay for. Paying on
performance only will get dodgy partners with fraudulent practices.
- Pick a reliable network partner (Linkshare, CF are only two approved by our
practice).
- Work hard to recruit and retain super-affiliates, as they are closest to your customer
and they hate lacklustre advertisers.
