Keller Williams Elite Invites DFW to Join them May 13 to “Give Where We Live” Dallas – May 12, 2010 -- The 150 agents and staff of Keller Williams Elite in Dallas and the Park Cities will be out in full force on Thursday, May 13, volunteering for the North Texas Food Bank as part of Keller Williams Realty International’s RED DAY. Red Day will involve more than 72,000 Keller Williams agents nationwide in a day to Renew, Energize and Donate within their local communities. The goal for the event is to “Give Where We Live.”

In addition to volunteering at the food bank, the team from Keller Williams Elite has organized a Virtual Food Drive that is open to the entire DFW Metroplex. Their goal: to fill the North Texas Food Bank’s shelves with canned goods and perishables to serve hundreds of disadvantaged client families in 13 North Texas counties. The Virtual Food Drive makes it possible for contributors to go online and fill a virtual shopping cart with canned goods or perishables and purchase far more food for the money than they could if they went to the store on their own. Contributors can click on the items they want to donate, including macaroni & cheese, tuna, hamburger, green beans, and other canned food items.  For every dollar donated, the NTFB can purchase approximately $8 worth of food. A donation of just over $13 at the Virtual Food Drive site will buy 24 cans of beef stew, while a donation of just under $20 will purchase 48 cans of tuna. Contributors can also elect to make a cash contribution to be used for the most needed items.  “This is a great way to maximize your contribution to a very important organization serving our community. With everything going on in the world it’s often easy to ignore the needs in our own backyard. We hope the community will join us in this worthwhile endeavor by going online to donate,” says Debbie LaBarba of Keller Williams Elite. Visit http://bit.ly/givewherewelive to join in the Virtual Food Drive and make a difference to North Texas residents in need. The North Texas Food Bank is a nonprofit hunger relief organization that distributes donated, purchased and prepared foods throughout a network of programs in 13 North Texas counties.
