To understand what a miracle is

To look at some of the miracles performed by Jesus

Miracles?

An effect or extraordinary event in the physical world that outshines all known human or natural powers and is credited to a supernatural cause. Such an effect or event noticeable or considered as a work of God.

In other words it is a wonder; marvel.

Miracle on the the Hudson

Can you think of your own

miracle? Write it down in your

book!

Turn to the person next to you and ask them these questions.

Record the answers in your book

1. Do you believe in the supernatural?

2. Are there powers of good and evil that can’t be seen by us?

3. Can we discover God in this life?

4. Do miracles happen?

In Matthew Mark, Luke and John there are about 35 different occasions when Jesus performed a Miracle. The miracles fall into 4 groups.

There is a lot of disagreement among people on the subject of miracles.

Miracles can’t and don’t happen

Miracles never happened and

never will happen

Miracles did happen and

can still happen

Now try this one… what might different Christians say about this miracle…

1. Imagine you were part of the crowd that witnessed this miracle – explain what you would have made of this. Would you believed this miracle?

2. Suggest reasons why people are now unwilling to accept miracles in the 21st century as they were 2000 years ago.
