Beyond the Surface of Makati Things Most People Don’t Know About the City
The dynamic business environment, cosmopolitan lifestyle, and the
unique vibe of the different districts—Makati, for many, is the place to be
for business, entertainment, culture, and lifestyle.
Aside from being the financial center of the Philippines, Makati boasts
many things even its residents don’t even know about.
Country's Best Office
Spaces
Makati is home to top-notch buildings
and office spaces that are perfect for
startups and small companies. Most of
the buildings have a manned reception,
surveillance cameras, and nearby police
station. The buildings in the city also
provide a first-class business address
for the companies.
World's Biggest Fashion Show
Makati hosted a fashion show called “Move to the Vibe of Glorietta” in
2012, which broke the Guinness World Record for the World’s Biggest
Fashion Show. More than 2,200 amateur and professional models walked
the ramp.
Among the brands showcased included Folded & Hung, Lacoste, Bench,
Penshoppe, Mango, and other brands from Stores Specialists Inc.
The Philippines' First and Only Large-Scale
“Lifestyle Playground”
The 21-hectare Circuit Makati is
the first and only large-scale
development in the Philippines.
It hosts three distinct
entertainment venues, including
the Circuit Theatre, Central
Walkway, and Globe Circuit
Events Ground. The venue
highlights art, entertainment,
and culture with its street plays,
fashion shows, outdoor exhibits,
and festivals.
The Philippines' First
LGU-Run Milk Bank
The Makati City government runs
the Makati Human Milk Bank
(MHMB), the first local milk bank
in the Philippines. It’s a place for
mothers who wish to donate milk
for vulnerable babies, including
those who are premature,
malnourished, and without mothers.
The World's Largest Photo Mosaic
A local toothpaste company put
up the world’s largest photo
mosaic along the Philippine
capital’s main thoroughfare,
EDSA, in Makati City. The
structure measured 15,000 sq.
ft. and consisted of 34,560
photos. It greatly surpassed
the previous record held by
the United Kingdom, which
had a 6,928 sq. ft. mosaic.
These things cause the steady increase in the number of foreigners and
locals who choose to work and live in Makati.
