DESCRIPTION
Uruguay beef quality and traceability meets German efficiency & expertise. The River Plate Cattle Ranch is a 1,059 hectare (2,618 acre) professional cattle ranch and crop farm in the southern Department of Florida, a highly fertile region within the agricultural belt of Uruguay. The ranch is located 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of the City of Durazno and 160 kilometers (100 miles) due north of the Port of Montevideo. The road from Montevideo to the ranch is a national highway, Route 5. Building upon his years of engineering experience in Germany, the ranch’s founder has created one of the most meticulous and efficient ranch operations in Uruguay. The local meatpacking plant, Breeders and Packers Uruguay (BPU), considers the ranch one of the top producers of Angus and Hereford cattle in the region. With a diverse combination of cattle, intensive agriculture and a feedlot, this Uruguay ranch allows the owner the flexibility to explore the synergies of different crop combinations including soybeans, corn, wheat, and sorghum while generating revenue from both grains and beef. The ranch has a total of seven parcels ranging in size from 52 hectares (129 acres) to 210 hectares (520 acres). Three contiguous parcels have a total area of 610.33 hectares (1,508 acres), and another three contiguous parcels have a total area of 363.53 hectares (898 acres).
