DESCRIPTION
It's getting down to the wire in American politics. Early voting is already underway for the 2012 presidential election and the final election is just around the corner. As someone who is interested in who shares what content and why, I was curious to see how social media fits into America's political dialogue. Here are some interesting facts from the Pew Research Center.

Just under 40% of American adults use social media for civic or political activities.

In traditional media, Romney and Obama received more positive coverage during the week of their conventions.
By contrast, social media conversations didn’t change much during the conventions. And the conversations that happened were consistently negative.

Nearly 40% of social media users learned through postings on social media sites that their friends’ political beliefs were different than they originally thought.
