HERITAGE AND HISTORY

PROVE

THAT

Page 14: China cities rev4

A PARADIGM

IS NEEDED

Page 15: China cities rev4

Chinese cities need to deal with

two

additional and very complex

issues

Page 16: China cities rev4
Page 17: China cities rev4
Page 18: China cities rev4

Heritage and history, provide the

answers for future challenges

Page 19: China cities rev4

1. The city is NOT an architecture project

neither an environmental experiment.

It is a political and sociological

paradigm which should focus on

people.

Page 20: China cities rev4

2. A paradigm should be defined

based on basic principles and

leading to a frame legislation.

Page 21: China cities rev4

3. World Heritage cities, as well as

historic cities, could serve as

reference

Page 22: China cities rev4

4. The cultural DNA and identity should

be identified and promoted.

By this the compromise and

participation of the citizens will be

reinforced.

Page 23: China cities rev4

5. The city should be designed

developing the neighbourhood

concept: common areas, local

markets, multipurpose spaces

where people can gather.

Page 24: China cities rev4

Manhattan s solutions are not right for

China s society

Page 25: China cities rev4

Chinese citizens have deep family

roots and values

Page 26: China cities rev4

Manhattan s solutions are not that of

China s societyAnd a strong sense of community

Page 27: China cities rev4

The street is a common and vibrant

area where live takes place

Page 28: China cities rev4

And it has been like this as long as

China s milenary history
