Controversial Issue: Polygamy

What is Polygamy? Polygamy is when some one is

married to more than one person. Some think that it is a glorified

way of saying “Yes, you can cheat on me.” While others believe it is what their God wants them to do.

Anti-PolygamyThis is allowing others to say you

can be a bigamist or saying it’s ok to basically be an adulterer.

Pro-PolygamyMy religion says that in order to make a Celestial Kingdom” men

have to have may wives and many children

• Some apes are known to be polygamists

• Only within the last 100 years that others have said it is “bad” to have may spouses

• Lowers the impulse to cheat and divorce

• Women have an ideal support network

• Women have more options in a spouse

• Against the First Amendment• Some say gay marriage is wrong yet

homosexuals can get legally married

Anti

• A person can’t love multiple spouses equally

• Causes jealousy between the spouses

• With so many children how are the children supposed to feel equal

• Promotes a patriarchal society

• If many women marry one man what are other men supposed to do
