EXIT 36S PLANNING STUDY Cooperative effort between NRPC and NMCOG

Metropolitan Planning Organizations Facilitate collaboration of governmental bodies,

interested stakeholders and residents Identify and study transportation needs, develop

solutions, and allocate scarce transportation funding resources

Look beyond municipal boundaries: regional problems demand a regional solution

-Exit 36S is a regional problem that spans political borders and requires interstate cooperation

NRPC and NMCOG are well positioned to help solve regional transportation problems, even across state boundaries

Historical Perspective

• History of interstate cooperation

• Exit ramp alignment originally planned to remain entirely in New Hampshire

• Agreement between City of Nashua and Massachusetts Governor Dukakis reached in early 1988 allowing exit ramp to span border.

• Agreement required less land, saving NH $2 million.
