What It Is § Hum On, is a musical wizard developed by
Samsung.
§ You can hum into your phone, and the humming is instantly transformed into a digital song, complete with onscreen sheet music.
§ Samsung has debuted this app, called Hum On!, at the SXSW in Austin this week.
§ The notes to whatever tune you hum appear on your phone’s screen in a flash, letting you arrange or score music regardless of your skill level.
§ You can fix the settings like; style to tweak the sound and mood of your song.
§ You can edit the pitch and length of individual notes, and then flash your polished creation onto social media.
App Functionality
§ Hum On, which is in beta for Android, utilizes Analysis Software.
§ Analysis Software detects the pitch and duration of your voice.
§ Once detection is performed, software influence the machine learning to create a suitable and relevant background, same way a musician considers melody and chords.
§ Afterwards your hummed melodies will be transcribed into musical notation.
§ Now you can add your preferred music genre flavor to it and play it back.
How To Use
§ Simply open the app, hit the start button and let your humming tone be recorded by the app recorder.
§ On completion of recording, Hum On will take the recording and process it into a transcribed set of musical notes and the app plays it back for you.
§ This app even has a specific feature to play the notes back with a selection of three d ifferent genre types as a mus ica l accompaniment, including Classical, R&B, and Rock.
Benefits
§ Samsung explains that analysis software and machine learning are the main driving forces behind making the app work to detect your pitch and voice duration.
§ Once a song is created, songs can be shared via social media, also, each creation is capable of being used as background music for videos.
§ If you want to upload stuff to YouTube but are worried about copyright, Samsung is positioning Hum On! as a way to get rid of those worries.
Release Date
§ The app, which is on show at South by South West is currently in development for Android, with no public release date mentioned yet.
§ Samsung hasn’t officially declared any sort of timeframe for a final release out of beta.
§ At the moment app is undergoing the procedure of improving quality of the recognition accuracy.
