“We usually stay home on New Year’s Eve. So glad we didn’t this year!”

Such was the consensus of party-goers at Touchmark’s New Year’s Eve party. Friends enjoyed entertainment by the well-known Alley Cats Band, led by Touchmark resident Dale Anderson. The band played favorite songs from early years.

Later in the evening, revelers enjoyed a photo recap of the year. Don Hancock, who served as master of ceremonies, kept the laughter flowing throughout the night. Sigrid Lucas sang Always, accompanied on piano by her daughter.

Bend Memorial Clinic to open office at TouchmarkThe Bend Memorial Clinic (BMC) will soon be leasing a part-time office/exam room at Touchmark and providing a board-certified physician/certified nurse practitioner or practical nurse half days on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as weekly lab work. (This office will serve Touchmark residents only.)

“We continue to grow and add helpful service options to our community,” says Touchmark Executive Vice President Tom Biel. “Last year, we

added memory care, and this year, I’m looking forward to developing this partnership with BMC to serve residents.”

Board certified in Family Medicine, Dana M. Rhode, DO, will be the physician available at the Touchmark office. Dr. Rhode graduated from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences. Read more at http://www.bendmemorialclinic.com/providers/Dana-M-Rhode/.

Saturday, Feb. 1, 2 pm Alice in Wonderland performance by B.E.A.T. at Summit High School Theater. Bus will leave at 1:15 pm for Bend Experimental Theatre. Cost: $15 per ticket, which can be purchased at the door. Please bring cash for your ticket. Transportation is provided. Sign up at front desk.

Sunday, Feb. 2, 3:30 pm Super Bowl XLVIII Party. Watch the game on the big screen. Bring snacks to share with others. No need to sign up. No cost. All welcome. Terrace Lodge Forum.

Saturday, Feb. 8, 9:15 am Bus leaves for Regal Cinema for showing of Metropolitan Opera’s live performance of Rusalka. Movie starts at 9:55 am, and tickets are $24. The opera is four hours. Transportation provided.

Thursday, Feb. 13, 4 - 7 pm Wine and chocolate social, sponsored by Awbrey Dental. Enjoy complimentary wine and chocolates on the eve of Valentine’s Day. All welcome. Terrace Lodge Lounge.

Sunday, Feb. 16, 1 pmTrip to Central Oregon Symphony at Bend High School. Symphony is at 2 pm. No cost. Transportation provided. Sign up at any front desk.

Sunday, Feb. 23, 1 - 4:30 pm Advanced Snowshoe Tour at Virginia Meisner Snow Park. No cost. You must have your own snowshoes. Wear snow boots and warm winter clothing. We will start at the parking lot and walk one mile to a warming hut and then back. Total of two miles in the snow. Transportation provided; sign up at any front desk.

New Movement Disorder Exercise Class startsOffered Wednesdays and Fridays from 3 to 4 pm in the first-floor Activities Room in Attended Living, this new class will be led by one of our personal trainers (Judi Tugwell or Liz Rupar).

This supportive and fun 60-minute class is designed to help maintain and improve mobility for those with physical challenges associated with Parkinson’s or Parkinsonian symptoms, MS, or cerebral palsy.

The class’s objective is to maintain and/or improve sensorimotor agility. It will incorporate multidisciplinary approaches focusing on balance, agility, flexibility, and strength.

Education and discussion will also be included in the class, which will run in four-week sessions. The class limit is eight people. It will run in four-week sessions. The cost is $25 for once a week or $40 for twice a week. Please call the Full Life team to reserve a space: 541-848-4159.
