Music Magazine Survey Results

1. What is your age?From this question, I can get an idea of what my target audience should be – young adults. This means that I can tailor my magazine to a younger audience by maybe making my featured artists around the same age as the audience.

2. What is your gender?

From this question I understand that females are more likely to read music magazines. However I will not only make it appeal to girls as I feel a music magazine should appeal to both genders.

3. What city do you currently live in?

Most of these answers are located in the north, this means that I should try and feature that as people from that region are usually quite proud and patriotic about where they come from.

4. Which of the following categories best describes your employment status?

From this I can conclude that most people who did my survey are students who also might have part-time jobs. This means that they will have enough disposable income to afford to buy a music magazine if they want to.

5. What musical genres do you prefer?

From this question I can narrow down the type of music and artists I should feature in my magazine; Indie and Rock are the most popular so I will be putting bands of those genres in my magazine.

6. What is your preferred way of listening music?

This question shows that my target audience are in the modern age as streaming was the most popular answer. I can use this information in my magazine, e.g mentioning it in one of the articles.

7. How often do you read music magazines?

The people that answered my survey rarely read music magazines, therefore I know I need to put extra effort into making it stand out and appeal to my target audience.

8. What are your reasons for reading music magazines?

From this question I have learnt that entertainment is the main reason for reading music maggazines, therefore I will make mine as entertaining as possible by adding funny stories and features.

9. What music magazines have you bought in the past?

This question gives me an indication of my target audiences’ needs and wants from a music magazine. As NME usually features indie bands or rock I know now to use them too.

10. Rating them 1-4 (1 being the most important, 4 being the least), which features of a music magazine

are the most important to you?

From this question I understand that the pictures and the look of the magazine is important to my target audience, therefore I will try my best to make my photos and the layout of my magazine attractive.
