8 Tips For Creating Landing PAGE CONTENT

how to “juice up” your landing page with good content?

1. “I solemnly swear that this product is totally awesome”

People are always on the lookout for social reassurance about a product or service, and if one of the first elements displayed on your landing page are authentic testimonials, it lends immediate credibility to your product and gives some reassurance to the user.

2.“These aren’t the droids we’re looking for”It’s up to you to convince them that your product will do the trick for them. Asking, for example, “do you need a new vacuum cleaner?” won’t cut it, as well as “our revolutionary vacuum cleaner is the most advanced in the world.” “Our newest model will eliminate hard-to-remove stains, drastically reduce your housecleaning time and save you significant expenses” – will interest readers more.

3. Killer headlines on the looseThe landing page is a bit like a puzzle, with the bits of content fitting together to create one mosaic of information that will greet the customer smoothly. However, the headline is a powerful – and crucial – element of that puzzle. Remember: it has to promise something to the customer. Unlimited. Increase. Unleash. Create more. Take advantage. The Amazing/Astounding. Discover the power/secret of… etc.

4. Disambiguate. Be cognizant that simplicity sells.

It’s that simple. You may be living in a corporate world, but in most cases, you’re selling to customers who aren’t. They aren’t used to, and don’t like to, talk Marketeese. Make the person feel as if you shared his experience at one time or another: “We’ve all been there…I know what you must be feeling, looking at that stack of dust/bills/dirty dishes, etc.”

5. If the proof is in the pudding, serve the pudding

Specific is always better and more convincing than vague. Numbers can add “punch” to your landing page – if you stand behind it, of course. Achieve clearer skin in 30 days or less will get you more conversions than Achieve clear skin!

6. “And….action!”Call to Action is the reason behind all the wording dramatics. So when it comes down to it, make sure the user has a compelling incentive why he or she should click on the button, submit details or make the toll-free call. Whether it’s 24 hr. delivery, added warranty at no-cost or a sizable discount they won’t find anywhere else – the advantage (time-triggered, of course) needs to be tangible enough to make them take action. Like a prominent figure once said, give them an offer they can’t refuse.

7.“Sign here please…and here…and here…and here…”

In real life we all grumble when we need to fill out endless forms, and online is no different. In these days when online privacy is paramount to users, only ask for the minimum required – usually an email address, phone number and in what business they are. Once you’ve got their email, you can send them more elaborate, personalized material.

8. Relax, everyone, this is just a test.No one writes up a landing page and releases it just like that. Just like you’re not going to make a speech before 1,000 people without practicing it on friends or relatives, you also wouldn’t release your landing page without A/B testing it. Which means, testing a number of versions of the same landing page, tweaking the content and see which gets the better results.
